so 13% of the girls at timken high school in canton ohio are pregnant. and accoding to the canton health department 18% of the children born at canton's two major hospitals were born to mothers between 11 and 19. now 19's one thing, but 11????
bring 'em up young

Does this have anything to do with your move to Ohio, or is that just a coincidence?
now, now, i can take no credit for this, well, maybe a little as my mere presence in the state could have raised the libido of the population by proxy, but no, the mrs. will bobbit me if i wander so there's no little mambos running about...nor are they any in varying states of gestation, althought the cloning is showing promise!
11? That's just terrifying on so many levels.

Gotta love those basement science projects.
Speaking of which, the youth in your area sound like they could use a new hobby.
hey now, i'm a good 70 miles form canton, doggone it and the kids around here are into good wholesome things like animal husbandry and crack dealing!

Good to see the 4-H clubs are fostering entrepreneuring skills, seeing as how there's not much future in farming.
Gee, I'm so happy to see my hometown in the news ...
actually ne ohio may be one of the last places in america where you'll still find family owned farms that actually provide stable incomes for the families. that rich fertile soil that's protected from overuse by the frigid winters blown in off lake erie.

well, that's good to know. My husband is from Illinois where the family farms are now agricultural conglomerates.
Now THIS is funny:
"The article reported that some would say that movies, TV, videogames, lazy parents and lax discipline may all be to blame."
Man, if I knew playing NCAA 2005 was going to be getting people PREGNANT, I wouldn't have worked so hard at having Akron U. win the National Championship!
yeah, it's pretty common for that to be the case nowadays, but i'm happy to report that there's still hope for the ohioans who cling to every last thing as if it was handed to them by god himself. dadgummit, that's my land and i'm not a'givin' it up.

I once was a nursing assistant in Labor Delivery in my local hospital. Seeing 11, 12, 13 year olds pregnant was very common. They were often the children of teen mothers. It was so sad because many of these girls delivered very prematurely and their babies were sick for many months. I once held the hand of an 11 year old as she delivered a one pound baby girl. That tiny baby died in the NICU about 3 weeks later. A year later that girl was back again to deliver.........
"School officials are not sure what has caused so many pregnancies..."
Really? I have a pretty good idea...

One of my professors from college is from Canton. She took me there one time, but apparently I missed the whorehouse/high school on the tour.
This just reaffirms what I learned from spending almost my entire life in Ohio: There are very few things to do in this state. The two most common are drinking and sex. Every once in awhile we throw some drugs and farming in there for sh**s and giggles. And when we get all four together things really get crazy. Oh the stories I could tell! But I'm still glad I got the hell out and moved to Chicago.
Seriously, the amount of time, effort and preparation it took to bring the simulated national championship to the Zips, I'm pretty sure I can actually coach a football team now.

But how many of them contract karen ziemba before 18?
Vish, KZ is only contractable by going ass to mouth.
And what's great about bringing KZ into this ... she went to Akron U.
that's right! us ohioans know how to get things done.
*of course that post was all in jest*
well, if anyone knows ass to mouth, it's our vish!
