i thought about going back four years and pulling up the generous threads congratulting dubya and his supporters on their win, but gosh, who has the time to pick only the best from the myriad threads of non-partisanship that we saw back then.
i was wrong. i forgot pt's old adage. so good luck. i pray that i am as wrong about what the next four years holds.
the country's yours, folks. and remember "but, but, bush" is not a defense any more than "but, but, clinton" was. oh who'm i kidding?
enjoy your time in office. i'll be over here being as bi-partisan as paljoey, romantico, the fenchurch mpd collective and all the rest of y'all.

Thank you for your congratulations, but you'd be better off emulating NYadgal, whose bipartisanship puts me to shame.
My politics are now and have always been petty, childish, vindictive and vengeful.
Will you still call him Bammy?

I love "congratulation" wishes like this. It reminds me of when people say, "Happy Birthday! So how does it feel being one year closer to DEATH?"

Posted: 11/5/08 at 9:02amI know this was a tough election for my Republican friends. I am glad it's over and hope they will come to be as proud and excited as I am right now.

Posted: 11/5/08 at 9:09amBush/Cheney/Rove made the critical and myopic mistake of taking their administration far to the right. If Obama makes a similar mistake by governing to the left, he will prove some of the fearmongers correct. That would be a singularly stupid thing to do, and he doesn't strike me as a stupid fellow. He has the opportunity to work with moderate Democrats and Republicans and accomplish much. He would be a fool to blow this opportunity, and he doesn't strike me as a fool.

Posted: 11/5/08 at 9:26amWell if you wanted to use the last two elections as an example, President Obama has won an unprecedented mandate to do exactly as he pleases. A record number of voters have indicated overwhelmingly that they want universal health care, an immediate end to the war in Iraq and much higher taxes on the upper brackets. More people cast their ballots for Barack Obama than any other candidate in history; He's accumulated political capital and now he can spend it. As Rush Limbaugh said "Elections have consequences."

papa seems to be channeling Mr. Roxy in this thread.
That was as self-undermining a "congratulations" as I've ever heard.
Gee, um, thanks.

"Well if you wanted to use the last two elections as an example"
Why would anyone want to use the last eight years as an example, other than what NOT to do? The Democratic party has a unique opportunity to be more inclusive and grow. If allowed, the Republican party looks eager to move even further to the right, alienating themselves from moderates. A chance like this does not come around often, and moving the Democratic party to the left at this moment would be a monumental mistake.

eh, the string in my leg is gone.
been a long 2 months with a longer two to go.
the country'll survive this. hell, it survived fdr and jfk and lbj and rmn and gwb. if i manage to stay of debtor's prison and keep my job, the bammy obama years will seem like a breeze. i have bigger concerns nowadays, anyway.

I, for one, appreciate the cross out and the do-over.
Any chance you can take some candid pictures of men in Constantanople? You know the type I love, shutterbug.
