That's really stupid. If you read Rather's comment, it's not directed at Katie. He said the news was "tarted up," not HER.
And I agree. When Brittany Lohan Olsen is the top story each night, the news IS "tarted up" now.

CBS made a miscalculation. They either bite the bullet & pay her off or stay in it for the long run & hope it improves

Posted: 6/14/07 at 3:50amDan Rather...a history of reporting real news from the front lines (Viet Nam, JFK, Chicago Convention etc.). Katie ...a history of fluff interviews on the "Today" show. I'll take Dan any day over miss perky. In six months she'll either be gone or she will have Anderson Cooper or another male as a co-anchor. Anderson already works on "60 Minutes" so he could do this and CNN, too.

I watched katie the first day. She opened the newscast by walking around on the set, leaning and sitting on the edge of the desk.
