Does anyone know of an arts high school with an excellent Opera/vocal program. I'm very serious about opera and have been studying for almost three years seriously as well as classical music. Alas, I go to a public school. But I'm looking for an Performing Arts school/conservatory setting for the rest of my high school career. I really want to go onto Conservatory after high school (probably Santa Cecilia in Rome).
So, if anyone knows, let me know!
Thanks much!

Posted: 10/10/06 at 6:02pmthey're considered AP and honors levels if not harder...i'm in 3 academic classes this semester and it's so much flippin work. the classes here are amazing, they're very suited to artists. and it's very liberal, so we can talk about eveything in history and lit classes. we even have a class about gay culture in America. if you have any q's feel free to PM me.

I go to Wadsworth High School in Wadsworth Ohio!! It's not a Performing arts school, but the quality of our productions between the acting, singing, and dancing is AWESOME!! It's just as good as some Performing Arts Schools. We do 4 shows a year. A childrens play, A Serious Drama, The Spring Musical, and then every other year we swap our 4th production between a comedy and a Dinner Theatre! The Training here is excellent and we have incredible directors! It has a GREAT music Department for our musicals as well as all 4 choirs....freshman, woman's ( which used to be concert) Elite, and Show Choir! We have 6 directors and our choreographer is from NYC well he was last year for our Musical!

Posted: 10/23/06 at 5:52pmWow. those all sound pretty intense. I go to the Etobicoke Schoolof the Arts in Canada. I love it, but we definantly only spend a quarter of our day doing our major (mine's music theatre). We do have musical theatre, drama, dance, band, strings, and Visual Arts though. We have a jazz choir, a music theatre choir (not as intense as japan) but we're touring in boston or chicago, 2 classical choirs, and a student choir. We've gotten tons of great opportunities though. I got a masterclass with Louise Lambert 2 weeks ago, and we've worked with Milton Myers, which is amazing.

Rogers CAPA in Pittsburgh, PA. I adore it.
We have Drama/Musical Theatre (my major) Dance, Vocal, Stagecraft, Creative Writing, Visual Art and Mutli-Media.
It's not very intense in my grade, but it gets more so as you get older.
