Living on a cruise for the rest of my life.

SweetQ, I know the feeling.

I think my dream vacation would be a cruise in the Mediterranean.

re: dream vacation?

Me too, Billboard Girl. My parents are going on one in the fall, and the optional excursions are ridiculously expensive! We're talking US$1k to get a car to take you around Istanbul!

re: dream vacation?

I would LOVE to cruise around the world. That would be a dream come true.

My first step would be to have millions of dollars.
Since that isn't feasible, I think my dream won't come true- oh, well re: dream vacation?

re: dream vacation?

I've never been on a cruise. But my grandparents talked about taking my family on one to Alaska....??? I'd prefer Hawaii or some place more warm weather based with a beach....but hey. Alaskas pretty and it's an excuse to buy a new winter coat!!!

re: dream vacation?

dramatothemax, I may be the minority here, but I found Alaska mind-numbingly boring. Thank God my ship (Celebrity Mercury) was fantastic so it compensated. I may take another Alaskan cruise this year just so I can enjoy the ship - I'm thinking Royal Caribbean or Princess.

re: dream vacation?

My parents have been on over 40 cruises in their lifetime. I've been on 13 and each cuirse I've gone on, we go to the Carribean/Panama Canal/Central America.

My parents on the other hand, have been everywhere and back. The only place they haven't gone to is Africa, also- they haven't been to some places in Asia either.

I think their favorites include the Mediterranean, Hawaii and Alaska.
I hope when I get to be their age I will have been on 40 cruises. I highly doubt it...again, a dream that probably won't become a reality.

re: dream vacation?

I think a week in Dubai would just about send me into fits of ecstasy.
Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

re: dream vacation?

My parents didn't take their first cruise until they were in their mid-forties, and are trying to compensate by going on as many cruises as possible each year. I don't know if I'd want to do too many cruises over my lifetime, but I'd like to say I'd taken over 40 international trips before I die!

re: dream vacation?

A return visit to Paris.

As for places I haven't been to yet, I'm still kicking myself for not going to Barcelona when I had the chance.

re: dream vacation?

Type_A_Tiff, I figured that Alaska would be boring. It is beautiful and all, but really what is there to do but look at snow and maybe go ice fishing? And i dont particularly like being cold. If we do go, I hope our ship will be exciting.

I've never been on a cruise and that's always been a dream.

And my childhood fantasy of a trip to Australia has recently been reawakened.

re: dream vacation?

Alaska is supposed to be one of the best places to cruise! Glaciers, helicopter ride over the glaciers is supposed to be amazing, climbing up the glaciers, riding through the glaciers on the ship, the animals that live there...

If I can get some pictures from my mom's vacation in Alaska, I'll post them.

re: dream vacation?

Forgot about Switzerland. re: dream vacation? That's definitely on the list, along with Prague.

I guess I'm one of the few people who found the Parisians to be nice, charming, and talkative. I did not have one bad experience with them, and I met quite a few who welcomed a conversation with a foreigner.

re: dream vacation?

I've never been on a cruise, but I don't mind since I generally don't like boats. If I had the opportunity I wouldn't turn it down, though.

BlueWizard- I went to Paris last summer and also found the Parisians to be very friendly. I only met one person, a cashier, who was rude to me.

I've always wanted to go to Australia

re: dream vacation?

I found the Austrians and Germans to be the rudest, and the French to be the friendliest! I think they were charmed by my semi-fluent broken French. They just appreciate the gesture.

I'd still like to check out Barcelona or Amsterdam though. I'd go back to Brussels for one night just to give their food another chance, but since Elphaba and BlueWiz have been talking about Bruges, I may just go there instead.

re: dream vacation?

I actually got to live my dream vacation, when I spent a month in England studying british literature. A lot of the pictures are posted here, if anyone wants to check them out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/30241381@N00/

Some other places I'd like to visit, though, include France, Portugal and Japan.

re: dream vacation?

Tiff, the French are wonderful......ie the French outside of Paris....the Parisians still think Louis the 16th still rules Europe.........They were SO rude, and I speak German, Spanish, and some French......

The Germans are WUNDERBAR! I lived there, and found the people to be very nice....

Melissa come see me in Prien am Chiemsee!
