This is my "go to" source for what will be nominated. I don't always agree, but it is always well-reasoned.

Sure... but how often has he been accurate?

It's new, so trending it doesn't really make sense yet. Sufficed to say, I don't think the lists here are bad ones, do you?
Oh, no, not at all! I was just wondering what his track record was for predicting. The answer is "nil," due to newness.
Hmm... I must say I'm wondering why he's your go-to source for predicting nominees, then. Based on what? Taste??
meh.,..I much prefer Everything Oscar...it's surprisingly accurate every year.

He's getting his Hairspray songs mixed up.
He's predicting Come So Far (which I agree will a nom) but he seems to think it's I Know Where I've Been:
1. “Come So Far (Got So Far to Go)” (Hairspray) – The film’s most uber-serious moment. Must mean Oscar!
And I have to say that I find it surprising that he doesn't even mention Frank Langella anywhere in his Best Actor roundup (unless I missed it).
I was just gonna post that robbie.
I'm equally surprised at all the acclaim Langella has received out of the blue.
Good for him!
I kept hearing Langella's name bandied about and incorrectly assumed that it would be for FROST/NIXON.
Also, that Everything Oscar sight doesn't even mention Amy Ryan. I would be utterly shocked if she doesn't end up with a nomination after the near-sweep she's been performing with the critics.

As I've psoted elsewhere, I think Amy Ryan is going to be snubbed. I've thought so since I saw the film. I know I know...the NY critics and the LA critics both love her...which is usually a sure-fire. But, not on this occasion. Affleck will corrupt her chances.
i thought Affleck has gotten a lot of respect for his directorial debut.

I personally prefer The Envelope for Oscar predictions because they poll several different "experts" and commentators for their predictions on a weekly basis:

I'm wondering what methods did efilm use to say that Meryl Streep is in the top 5 for Best Supporting Actress for Lions for Lambs. This is the first I've heard of it.
I like the Everything Oscar page. At least they get the Best Supporting Actor right. Albert Finney should definitely get an Oscar nomination for his superb work in Before the Devil Knows Your Dead. I am liking many of the nominations so far for the Acting categories.

Scotty, Streep is always in the running. Always. Always. Always. Always.
People may have disliked the film (I actually thought it was a good film) but Streep's performance is magnificent. Even when she's just nodding and indulging Tom Cruise's character, you can see the wheels turning. And her scene with her producer is what the eFilm critic refers to as her "Oscar clip," it's probably the best moment in the movie.
Having said that, there is no chance in hell she'll get nominated for this. The movie was unanimously disliked by critics and audiences alike. She'll get her nod for either DOUBT or MAMMA MIA! next year.
