I don't understand people who are uptight about school. My biggest problem with high school was discipline and the way things were run. I don't care how old your student is - 5, or 18. If they ask to go to the bathroom, they go to the bathroom, no questions asked. The teacher shouldn't be allowed to tell someone they're not allowed to leave the classroom to make a phonecall, use the bathroom, get a drink, whatever it is. I absolutely hate it, and I hate rules. I hate being told what to do for illogial reasons, which is why I would ALWAYS get in trouble in high school and I had it off with ALL of my teachers, principal's, deans, etc. WEEKLY because of their stupidity. In the end, I always got my way and they realized they needed to loosen up. That's one reason I would love to be a teacher - break the mold and actually have kids love their teacher. If kids loved and had great relationships with their teachers, I would bet everything that not one kid would fail. It's true, and the education system needs to change their way of thinking. Thank GOD I go to one of the most liberal colleges, or I wouldn't be able to deal with it.
Sorry, that was a bitchy rant.
