Posted: 8/27/07 at 7:39pmmy high school is holding auditions in a few days for Godspell, I have never really acted before but I really want to try it. What kind of things can I expect?

Posted: 8/27/07 at 9:21pmYou should definatlely audition. Do you know which scene you will have to read. In my high-school we used to know in advance. Just be very familiar with the play anyway and get in lots of practise.

Posted: 8/27/07 at 9:35pmAre you familiar with the general audition process? Since Godspell is a musical, you will have to sing a song by yourself in front of the director. About 16 bars of one. And then you'll learn a short dance combination, about 8 counts of 8, in one large group, and you'll proboboly break off into smaller groups to do it for real in front of the choreographer. The next day or a few days after there will be a callback list posted. If your name is on there this is good. If your name is on the list it means your being considered for a roll. At the callbacks you might be asked to read a scene from the show, you might also learn a song from the show and maybe another short dance combo. A few days after that the cast list will be posted.
