my high school is holding auditions in a few days for Godspell, I have never really acted before but I really want to try it. What kind of things can I expect?
You should definatlely audition. Do you know which scene you will have to read. In my high-school we used to know in advance. Just be very familiar with the play anyway and get in lots of practise.
Are you familiar with the general audition process? Since Godspell is a musical, you will have to sing a song by yourself in front of the director. About 16 bars of one. And then you'll learn a short dance combination, about 8 counts of 8, in one large group, and you'll proboboly break off into smaller groups to do it for real in front of the choreographer. The next day or a few days after there will be a callback list posted. If your name is on there this is good. If your name is on the list it means your being considered for a roll. At the callbacks you might be asked to read a scene from the show, you might also learn a song from the show and maybe another short dance combo. A few days after that the cast list will be posted.
