... and it's Fiddler on the Roof. We have 2 half-Jews and a bunch of Mormons and some Baptists. No Tevye's. Like 2 good belters and 3 baritones. WTF???

Considering how many high schools do all-white productions of ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, doing Fiddler with no Jews is no big deal.

Interesting ... that will be one interesting interpretation of Fiddler. I was probably the only Jew in my production of Fiddler.

i'm not jewish and i'm tzeitel in a summerstock production of fiddler. AND i'm not afro-caribbean/afro-american and i played asaka in OOTI.

what's more surprising are the TALENTS you listed given the show, not the religious affiliations.

Exact same here. we're so lacking in our male talent, I can't really think of anyone who could pull of Tevye.

We did Fiddler at my school 5 years ago. WE had an AMAZING freshman who played Tevye. He is now a freshman in college.

If anyone saw Sky High, he played Speed.

Yea...our school has a shortage of Asian people in the theatre department. A white dude played one of them when we did Throughly Modern Millie.

If my school forks over the money, we're doing WSS next year, which would be my school's first real musical since I've been in the school. Casting will be interesting...and considering we have a 3:1, girl to guy ratio, I haven't had the clue where our male dancers are going to come from. Not even ones with dance experience, just a large number of guys that would be willing to dance. Fiddler would totally work considering the demographic we have at my school. But talent is going to be a crap shoot, unless I'm consciously disregarding people. We don't have triple threats, and most of the good actors can't sing...

I just got the news tonight and our school is doing Little Shop of Horrors. I'm very excited and can't wait, but I'm a little confused seeing as we have NO guy talent! My brother said there are a few bigger guy parts in the show, so I have no idea how that will work out.

lol im german, polish, catholic and was hodel. Our production was sweet. Trust me it's done all the time.
