I thought it was disgusting until I saw a really hot guy that had it done. It doesn't both me as much anymore.
NOT.
They're so disgusting. I know a lot of people with them and I continue to point out that if they have any plans of being successful in the professional world...they have to go.
they will shrik a bit but never go back to normal size
ewww
Definitely not! They freak me out. I'd be paranoid that they'd get snagged on something and tear! Blech!

I'd rather see a thread like this, than one asking for tips!!! Before it became so "hip", I made the choice to do it. And similar to the photo, I could stick my finger in the hole, all the way down to the knuckle. Yeah...go me... I stretched all the way up to 3/4 of an inch. Needless to say, I regret it deeply!!! And will never be able to go without 0ga plugs in my ears covering the damage.

I'm 26.
this girl in my art class had it for like 2 months and then desited she didnt like them and now has a huge hole in her ear forever
kinda sad....
Ew. I saw this guy once who's ear was gauged so large that he would stick his finger through the hole to scratch his neck. It was really gross.

It's a very unfortunate fad. Not to mention, quite expensive. It makes me very angry when girls do it. I think it should be illegal to tattoo/pierce anyone under like 30 years old. haha. It's so ironic...I've spoken with 2 different tattoo parlor owners who regret their mutilated ears, also. One was very "anti-gauging". He told me he personally refuses to stretch anyone above a 0ga.

chrrymn, is there any way to get your ears fixed or something, or do you get stuck with the holes for life?
Plastic surgeons can fix it, but it's very pricey. I just can't imagine being 90 with long hanging loops for ears.

Ew... gross.
Yeah, not so much. I would never want that done, seeing as I just got my ears peirced like six months ago.
I agree Jerseygirl...
This trend makes me laugh becuase all I can think about when I see someone with the big ear piercings is in 50 years all of these old men walking around with these giant ear lobes looking like fools. Imagine how much more they will sag when they are 80!

I had O g for 4 years and stretched them very slowly over the course of a year. I started having allergic reactions to the plastic in one really hot pair I got a couple months ago, so I made the decision to let them close. It's barely been two months and I'm already down to an 8 g-- you can't even tell that I could once stick my pinky through my lobe. If you stretch properly, you'll heal properly. Too many people are all about instant gratification and are completely reckless, leading to near permanent damage. I refuse to get rid of my other piercings. They are absolutely work friendly if you have the right jewelry.

Earlier this year, mine were up to a 4g. When I was gauging up, I did it very slowly. At first, skipping one size, (i.e. from a 16g to a 12g) and once I got to an 8g, I went up one size at a time, leaving the new plugs in for two weeks before I gauged up.
Seemed fun until I got to doing shows. During Ragtime, I had to cut out little circles from bandaids to cover them up, and I decided it wasn't worth the hassle. I took them out, and within a week, I was able to wear regular posts.
