true or false:
"Gaydar" is just a skillfull connection of observed sterotypes in a specific person.
also: can someone give me a "course" in gaydar? there is a little kid begging me to "teach" him, and the things i've been making up aren't working (im not worried. he will DEFFINITELY get his own one day). new and fresh lies welcome!

For me, the definition of gaydar is : Knowing when someone is either straight or gay. And that's it. ![]()
And mine was broken until I fell in love with 3 gay men in a row and noticed a pattern.
Don't lie to the kid! Tell him that he'll have to incorrectly identify at LEAST five people to start getting the hang of it. :)

Posted: 1/30/04 at 8:34amIf "gaydar" exists, I think it's an instictual sense. It's not observation of set stereotypes. I say this because a man can be very heterosexual in appearance and behaviour but, if he's gay, I will pick up on it, often before he does. They say men and women give off a vibe or an undectible scent to attract the opposite sex. If you believe in that then maybe gay men do also without knowing it. It's part of the base animal instinct, evolution, the ability to find one's mate, etc.

Posted: 2/9/04 at 11:28pmI have doubted my gay dar recently. I had a crush on this guy in high school.. I always thought he was straight as can be.. several months ago we run into one another at a gay bar/club.. he is 100% gay... LOL.

Posted: 2/11/04 at 7:24pmMr. Paul Williams is famous for his extremely accurate Gaydar. He likes to say that he can spot one at fifty paces. Did you know that Kermit cruised him during rehearsals for the Muppet Movie? It's true.

Posted: 2/12/04 at 4:57pmMy gaydar is horrible! I realized this one guy was gay only after he flipped out when he saw the "I heart Link" pin on my bag. He started going on about how hot the Link he saw was and I had this massive "DUH" moment...
