every fear, every perceived slight, every scandal, every conspiracy theory, every wild-eyed fantasy from both sides and the middle (hah, like that exists here or even in the country as a whole) get played out right here for our enjoyment. cherish the diversity of this time, kids, in a month it'll be back to one dominant theme: stolen elections and bitter recriminations.
It's not funny in real life though.. people are dying and more will.
BTW, papa, I like my martinis very dry.
and i like single malts, preferably 25 years old or more.
Thank god you said 25 years at minimum. That gets people intro trouble, you know.
there's no trouble with this page, bway.
Delicious.
Papa--you want us to find the middle whenever the GOPs are in the middle of a crisis. You have no trouble playing sides the rest of the time.
I have been advocating for middle ground for a while now, so it does exist on BWW. But right now, I'm going to enjoy the final act on the "Tragedy of the Bush Era GOPs" (Remember that hubris is a huge component of Tragedy). And once the elections and this scandal pass, I will be more than happy to return to the middle ground regardless of the election results.
But, if the elections ARE surrounded by as much mischief as the 2000 and 2004 elections, I WILL hound that issue. And while you enjoyed calling us tin foil hat wearing nuts for disputing those elections, I find it refreshing that the rest of the country is more and more realizing that our elections are NOT safe on paperless electronic voting machines and with certain policies that have continued to deny people the right to vote.
i never called you nuts. that's an insult to nuts. i demand that you take it back.
How do you find a moral center when both parties are liars?

You could try not thinking in terms of parties but individuals.
I really wish I could, but that's not how this game works.
Really? BS.
I voted Republican for NYC mayor.
I'd maybe even vote Republican if the candidate was Guiliani.
There are Republicans I admire and Democrats I loathe.
The world is not black or white.
You are right the world is not black and white. Unfortunately the US is. You are right; we do have some interesting politicians on both sides of the fence.
Bloomberg may be a republican but often acts like a democrat. He is lucky though, not only is he popular, he is RICH. He does not need endorsements like the rest do. Unfortunately, there are not enough Bloomberg’s around.
No matter what happens in this upcoming election, I think we will attack Iran. I imagine both parties will back it. They did Iraq, and Lebanon.
Sordid details aside (although they ARE fun), I think the bigger lesson is this:
Our government functions best when the two parties have a place at the table. It's so apparent that it just doesn't work when one party has control of all three branches of government. It's all about checks and balances, folks. The old adage is true: absolute power corrupts absolutely.
And I'm the biggest yellow dog democrat that ever lived!

I actually agree with that 100%.
