i presume that the aclu will be swooping in at any minute to defend this man's right to free expression, right?

He has the right to have his banner. And, I have the right to eat pizza elsewhere. That is how freedom is supposed to work.
you should tell the city inspectors that who are threatening him with fines if he doesn't remove it.
if it does stay up, i'll be very curious to see hoiw much damage his shop sustains from supporters of the party of peace and tolerance.

I think if they actually do pursue legal proceedings, the ACLU will step in. They've defended the Klan, so they'll take anything (and no, I'm NOT comparing him to the klan, just saying that you don't have to be liberal to have your case taken up by them.) There is no real leg for the state to stand on, so they may get involved.
Okay, DGrant, than I'll compare him to the Klan!
don't people at the convention like pizza. He could probably make a fortune by staying open just for the convention.
What will happen when the Republican convention comes to NYC next month and they block off the streets??? I guess we should see a lot of signs up that say Go Kerry.
of course we will, boobs. united for peace and justice bought up 3 billboards in the times square area to bash the gop. i think a great deal of his frustration comes fromt he fact that the entire convention is being catered and the security has rendered the idea of staying open pretty much a moot point as anyone milling about outside will be swiftly accosted by jack booted rubber hose bearing goons of the mary beth cahill brigades and beaten into submission before being spirited away to their designated pens under the railroad tracks.
and matty matty boombalatty, be specific, are you comparing the pizza guy or me to the klan? because i'm pretty sure that pizza guy doesn't merit that kinda hatred.

Is that before or after they release the dogs?
Bashing the GOP is FUN!! I am gonna buy up some great anti-Bush t-shirts for that week!! :)
in a move to assuage the ever powerful peta contingent, etoile, the dogs have been taken off the agenda on the off chance that one of the roving rovian minions of hate might land a lucky shot while being masticated and possibly hurt one of the animals.
I have a question...if it was reversed and it was the Republican nat'l convention that caused this grief to his business, would he have put up a GO KERRY sign?
Doesn't matter, he should still be allowed to hang a sign...if he gets a permit.
well, robbie, i imagine that there are at least 10 business owners in nyc who read this and are having their banners made even as we speak.
10?
Ha.
Haha.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.
I mean...how long have you been living here? ONLY 10???
i'm an optimist?
'I'm an optimist?'
Well...that is true. I mean, you post day after day here...and nobody likes you.
It looks to me like the business owner is doing it to "shame" the convention in adopting procedures which will not hurt his business during that week.
Nothing political....just business.
This guys shop is right across from the Fleet Center. I had to run a few errands in Boston, so I went in with my husband and took the Commuter Rail into the city. IT isn't just this place being affected. The Commuter Rail Line that comes in to North Station, closed for the duration of the convention. All trains will terminate at the next to last stop before North Station. Oh, bt the way his pizza isn't that great so that is no big loss. The thing is the locals just walk there, and the delegate will also be right there. To me he is just being stupid and cutting off his nose to spite his face.
{Just a quick, possibly moronic question...
Why are the Republicans meeting in NYC and the Democrats meeting in Boston?
Does this seem a little backwards to anyone else?}
Good question FF! The North End of Boston really is not the most liberal. Also there is another convention site that would have made a lot more sense
FYI I am a Bostonian and Half time pizza is forced to close for security reasons he can NOT stay open that is his point for the sign. he is loosing a week of business they promised this city merchants (especially near the fleet center) would have. These people have to pay their HIGH rents too so do not forget! a week is a LONG time for a business like that to close.
we have a new convention center built that they opted not to use do to no enough luxury boxes. This convention is costing the city tons now. they promoted it as so good for Boston economy. my work hours are cut next week from 8-2 and will be debated by Tuesday if we should just shut down for the week depending on how bad it gets. I have friends who have to take mandatory vacation cause they are closing and these are big business too. it is just insane.
So this guy is using his free speech. he is mad because he is going to lose $$$, hence the sign. You'd be PO's as well.
