Posted: 6/5/08 at 12:04pmpatches (in my avatar) passed away very unexpectedly last night. i'm so sad. we dont know what happened to her. she was fine last night and must have died in her sleep.

I'm sorry for your loss. Was Patches old? I sort of know a little bit about rabbits because my sister runs a 4-H club, and we have a bunch. Usually, I think the life expectancy is about 8 years. I know they can live longer though.
And sometimes with rabbits, things just happen unexpectantly. My sister lost 2 rabbits once within a week or so. They were from the same litter, so my sister thinks maybe it had to do with bad breeding. I think all that happened with them was they just stopped eating.

Posted: 6/5/08 at 12:53pmshe was 4. i'm not sure what happened to her beacuse we did everything right... we got her oxbow hay, she always had clean water, we had her fixed so she wouldn't get cancer... she was just at the vet last month and was given a clean bill of health. :/

Posted: 6/5/08 at 12:58pmThat's really odd. Again, I'm sorry for your loss. At least you did everything you could and loved your rabbit. My sister has told me some horror stories on how kids in her club had their rabbits die, or just get sick of them, so they try to dump them off on her to get rid of.

Our family cat suddenly took ill a couple of weeks ago and we had to euthanize her which was absolutely devastating, so I really feel for your loss. I hope you can take some comfort in knowing how much love and comfort you shared with each other during the time you spent together.
