re: A Fond Farewell To SPAMALOT!

Jan 12, 2009 — 7:40:44 AM

Marianne, the song Rick sang was Sheenah Easton's "Morning Train." Well, a hilarious version of it I think I saw him do it once before, but nowhere near as long or as funny as last night. Rick was on fire last night, really outdid himself. Merle was really great but I agree, nobody can outdo Sara. I do think Michael Siberry is the best Arthur I've seen, and of course Tom Deckman and David Hibbard are always fantastic. I was lucky enough to have a great seat (though I had a better one for the ...

I remember the auction raised over $500,000 in total, but I'm not sure how much individual items raised.

re: The Bears are Here (Year 2)

""Last year someone paid $17,000.00 for the Spamalot bear in his armour." Didn't they promise to donate it for a charity? What ever happened to that? Did they just keep it or, did it go for a good cause? " Diva, the Clay fan who won it donated it to Clay's foundation, where it was auctioned off again at their annual gala last month.

re: has clay aiken ever missed a performance in spamalot

Dec 15, 2008 — 10:24:28 AM

He was sick that week in November, apparently lost his voice. Some Clay fan friends from out of town were here that weekend and luckily our tickets were for the Sunday (16th) and he was back then. I think the only time he's missed since then was for Rosie's show. He finishes his run on January 4th, he won't be there the final week.

re: Now SPAMALOT is closing earlier..

Rats. Got a slightly worse seat for the 11th than I had for the 18th. What's more annoying is I had the chance to do something else on the 18th and passed it up to see Spamalot.

re: BCEFA Fundraising Has Begun...

Nov 19, 2008 — 11:57:00 AM

Equus was still selling them at the same price as of this past Sunday matinee. I don't know why their stuff is so much, how many posters can they sell at $250? If it had been $100 or maybe even $150 I'd have bought one, but as it was I was so annoyed at the price I didn't even put any money in the bucket on the way out as I would normally have done (I'll still contribute, just at another show with less ridiculous prices). I'm not sure what signed stuff, if any, Spamalot is selling, but on the...

re: Spamalot closing January 18

Apparently broadwaynerd101 thinks he speaks for everyone here, how quaint. If anyone (or their parents) is adamant about seeing it without Clay and doesn't want to wait until January, I suggest you see it this weekend, Clay is scheduled to be out Saturday and Sunday. Very sad (but not terribly surprised) to see it end, it's my favourite show and I will miss it.

re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 10/12

Very happy to see Spamalot up again. It will be interesting to see how it does this week with Clay being out all next weekend. If it holds up even though he's not there that might keep it around longer.

re: Zac Efron considered to replace Radcliffe in EQUUS...please, lord, no.

Oct 10, 2008 — 5:48:20 PM

Talent aside (I've only ever seen Efron in the Hairspray movie and he was fine in that), I had the misfortune to sit next to some squealing Daniel Radcliffe fangirls when I saw Equus, I can only imagine how much worse the Zac Efron ones would be. edited because while Radcliffe has two Fs, Efron apparently doesn't.

re: Get thee to the Shubert Theater...

Sep 15, 2008 — 10:12:36 AM

When Hannah started I wasn't over impressed (but she was out for a while shortly afterwards, so may well have been sick when I saw her), but by the time she finished I thought she was great. Not Sara great, but definitely very good. And much better than Marin, who has an amazing voice but just doesn't have the larger than life personality and humour that the Lady of the Lake needs. I'm going to see it again soon and am really looking forward to seeing Merle in the role. I'm looking forward to...

re: Avenue Q: Current cast and production?

Sep 13, 2008 — 3:18:26 PM

Jennifer Barnhart was still in it when I saw it again a couple of weeks ago. I thought the current cast was excellent and the show as a whole is still really good. The person I went with hadn't seen it before and loved it. Have fun.

re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 9/7

Sep 8, 2008 — 6:28:39 PM

I didn't check the other shows, but Spamalot had easily its worst full week ever. Much worse than the same week last year. No wonder they wanted Clay to come back.

Got my 2 reserved seats for HAIR and SPAMALOT on 8/9.

Aug 10, 2008 — 5:58:35 PM

Nobody can touch Sara as the lady of the lake, but both Hannah and Marin were definitely up to the role when I saw them, though Hannah had the edge because she's naturally funnier (the less said about the understudies I've seen in the role, the better). The Playbill was b/w for a while, not sure how long, but they changed it to colour again shortly after Clay joined the cast.

re: Spamalot Lyric Change and Love for Marin Mazzie

Jul 3, 2008 — 8:06:16 AM

I saw it with Marin Mazzie recently and she did the Britney line then as well, so I assume it's permanent. Maybe they don't feel Britney is as sad as she was when they changed it to Posh Spice (which was hysterical when Hannah did it). O'Donnell was in for Deckman when I saw it as well, and while he's very good, Tom Deckman owns the role, he's perfect in it. I hope he's back soon.

re: Planning a Bway trip? DON'T do these things!

I had the running commentary thing happen when I saw August. There were two elderly gentlemen behind me and I guess one of them was hard of hearing because the other explained everything that was going on to him throughout the entire show.
