iPod Question

This morning I wanted to load one of my CDs onto my iPod. I burned the CD to my computer, and when I went to sync this to my iPod, for the life of me I couldn't get the CD to transfer over (there is enough room). I tried deselecting songs already on there and re-syncing and those were removed from my song list, yet the selected songs of the recently burned CD still wouldn't transfer over.
Anybody have a clue why? Many thanks.

i organize my ipod a bit differently, but maybe this will help:
in itunes, on the top bar, click on files.
select "new playlist." name it after your cd.
go the "library - music" which should be right under "files." find the cd which has been burned onto your cpu. click on the first track, hold select then click on the last track on the cd (which will hilight the entire cd). move the selection into the playlist. open the playlist by clicking on it to make sure all the tracks are on it.
plug in your ipod.
after your ipod appears, select the playlist and move it onto your ipod.

I've never had to do that before, but will try that when I get home.
Thanks.

Roscoe, how do you get it to automatically sync up?

I have a lot more music on my Itunes than I could fit onto my Ipod, so I set it up so that only new podcasts are automatically added directly to my Ipod, if that makes any sense.
So when I want to add a new album to my Ipod I have to do it myself. Sorry if that's not clear, I could describe it more clearly but I'm not at my home computer.

Posted: 7/28/09 at 6:24pmI never sync. I drag the playlist to the ipod. I don't keep all my music on my computer and I'm always afraid if I sync it'll delete all the music on my ipod.

Posted: 7/28/09 at 7:56pmThanks for the suggestions - I dragged this to my playlist and it worked. Yet, when I selected the songs I had previously de-selected, those were automatically added back to my iPod when I re-synced. I have no idea why this particular CD was different.

I just realized I left out the most crucial word in my question.
I meant to ask how do you get the ipod to NOT automatically sync when you plug it in.
I selected the option "only sync checked songs" (or whatever it says) and then I went through my library and unselected a lot of songs. But they transferred anyway.
Should I select "manual"? does that let you drag the lists to the ipod?

Posted: 7/29/09 at 3:04pmI had to click "summery" and then scroll to "options" and check "manually manage music and videos". Before I did that everytime I'd add a new song or album my ipod would automatically sync up with my current playlist and delete everything on my ipod that was no longer on my itunes playlist.

Posted: 7/29/09 at 3:05pmI have a question too. My laptop crashed and they had to replace the whole hard drive, therefore losing my itunes library. Can I plug my ipod into my husband's computer and get a library set up here?
#17re: iPod Question
Posted: 7/29/09 at 3:31pmYou can get the songs off the ipod and back on to the hard drive if that's what you mean, but you can't do it with itunes. Apple doesn't let you. You have to download a freeware program.

If you don't have an iPod Touch and have your iPod on disk mode, and have hidden files/folders on, you'll find that all your music files are in obscurely named files/folders. If you re-import this into iTunes, you'll get all your music back and the ID3 tags are still there so the filenames won't make much difference.
Obviously you've lost playlists, playcounts etc.

Posted: 7/29/09 at 11:12pmIs there a way to edit the titles of the songs on the songlist? I downloaded the Broadway production of The Pirates of Penzance, and all the songs from Act 2 were listed by their correct titles, whereas all Act 1 songs say, "The Pirates of Penzance".
#20re: iPod Question
Posted: 7/29/09 at 11:27pmThere are several way to edit titles. The easiest is just to click the title that you'd like to change -- click twice but not a fast double click. The other way is to right click the song title, click "get info" and then click the "info" tab.

Thank you, CATS!! It worked and re-synced correctly, too.

Posted: 7/30/09 at 5:38amCATS, where did you find the "summery" (or summary, not sure if that was a typo)? I want to switch mine to manual but I can't find that tab. I do have "options" under edit, but there is nothing that mentions manual or auto-sync.
#23re: iPod Question
Posted: 7/30/09 at 7:43amGo to devices on the left and click your iPod, then go to the summary tab.
