I just downloaded it. The new design is hell on cast albums. The cover flow is gone.

I don't hate it, I just have to get used to it.

Anyone else downloaded it yet?

The power search function is gone. That is a massive problem.

Many times it was the only way I could find some of the more obscure artists and/or albums I was looking for. The browse function sucks.

I'm too scared to update it for the specific reason of my friends on facebook and twitter freaking out about it.

I enjoy tinkering around on Garage Band. With that being said, there were some updates that I needed (and wanted) for it. However, in order to update some of the things that I wanted to for Garage Band, my mac would only allow me to do that by doing a full on update of everything, including iTunes. Long story short, I hate the new Itunes and am starting to hate Apple more and more. First the maps and now this crap.

Also, you can't sort an artist's albums by year in the "grid" format. Only in the "list" format.

So if I want to see the album artwork I can't have them in chronological order.

I guess that seems minor, but it's annoying.

I will say that my first reaction to any type of change in format is usually negative. I need to give myself time to get used to it before coming out with guns blazing.

So far the sorting issues and the missing power search are my two biggest problems.

Not the best thing Apple have done.

The new itunes took forever to download to my laptop, and then I had to go through all kinds of shenanigans to get itunes to acknowledge that the laptop was in fact connected to the internet.

And as far as I can tell so far, all the new version really does is fix a lot of stuff that wasn't broken to begin with.

I almost downloaded it yesterday, but it didn't end up working. Well, it was a problem with my internet connection. Sounds like I should be glad it didn't work.

I assume once I get used to it I might get used to it. Definitely not user friendly to me, though I miss facebook when statuses (stati?) automatically added the "is".

A good "tips and tricks" review of iTunes 11.0 from CNET, including a discussion of searching. Not sure if it solves your questions, Taz, but it seems like the search feature got more comprehensive.

EDIT--
At the end of the 'tips and tricks" article, there's a link to CNET's official "review" of v.11.0 which is, itself, not that interesting, but the comments that follow are illuminating if you want to know what several hundred angry iTunes users are thinking.

Among the useful links in the 'comments' section of the review are one to download v10.7 if you want to retreat, and one to the relevant address to send your comments to Apple.

Apparently, one of the features that is truly gone is the "display duplicates". I think that is a definite step backwards.

I was pretty much able to get mine back the way I like it but it took a long time to reconfigure everything.

Here's one question I have:

Let's say I imported a cast recording where each song had a different artist. My (dearly departed) cover flow ended up with a separate cover icon for each song. I used to be able to highlight all the songs and click "get info" and then enter "company" or "original cast" in the artist space and then I would just have one cover.

Now, when I highlight multiple tracks and click "get info" the artist space (as well as all the others) is ghosted and I can't change it.

This was something that occurred on v.10 as well. Has anyone else experienced this and figured out how to fix it?

*NOTE: I did discover that if you change multiple items before the initial import it will take. But there has to be a way to change the artist once a cd is imported.

I'm constantly surprised at the number of people that don't have their cast albums listed as compilations. That should solve any weird cover flow issues you're having.

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

I noticed I now have 2 of the same tracks listed on at least half of the songs in my iTunes. I have to figure out what to do.

givesmevoice, I'm having the same problem trying to switch cast albums to compilation as I am trying to change any other information. The check box is ghosted and I am unable to click it.

Sharing my experience here. Ultimately users will be forced to upgrade to iTunes11. A week ago Apply took my texting keyboard hostage and would not release it until I performed the upgrade.

I have thousands of tracks on my iOs device (phone) and with a few exceptions all had artwork before the upgrade. Once the upgrade was completed all of the artwork on the iOs device disappeared, The artwork remains visible in my iTunes Library and through Home Sharing remains visible on Apple TV. On my iPhone 4S however the opposite is true.

Problems are wide spread. I did research online (Apple Support) and other sources. Many problems and complaints about missing artwork resulting from the iTunes upgrade. I spent over one hour on the phone this afternoon speaking with a Senior iOs Advisor. Of course everything he tried works perfectly for him and not perfectly for me. Our conversation uncovered more issues with the iOs upgrade relative to iTunes11. These are supposedly being raised to the engineers, so I am told.

My conclusion sit tight. I truly enjoy my Apple products but I am disappointed with the havoc to my cd artwork caused by the iTunes11 upgrade I am fairly knowledgeable about using iTunes so if anyone would like some help feel free to ask.
