Papa, that's just good common sense.

I like how we're always supposed to take Obama at his word, but apparently half the party is able to read Hillary's mind and expose all her ulterior motives.

Eh, half the party can read Hillary's mind. The other half reads Obama's and condemns him in the same way. No different than any other election cycle. Except that this time, SOME of the supporters, on both sides, are a little more rabid than usual.

And Phyllis, Don't you regularly taunt people with your ability to not only read minds, but the future as well. At least that's how your anticipatory condemnations of folks for your perception that they plan to blame Hillary if Obama loses strikes me.

In any event, Hillary's motives are irrelevant to me. In fact I suspect she and Obama have BOTH been caught between the same rock and hard place by these fringe crazed supporters who can't accept her loss. I'd bet that they are both trying to find the least damaging way around these folks.

I just think it's the worst possible solution, at this point in the game, to make a point of reiterating at the convention that 18,000,000 Democrats didn't want the nominee. I mean I don't really get this "we want our voices to be heard" business. Heard saying what? That they didn't want the nominee? Isn't that what the primary voting was? Did anyone not hear those voices? We heard them and there weren't quite enough of them to carry her to this next stage.

Now, it's the primary winner's voice that gets to be heard. Did the the Tony voters who'd voted for Raul Esparza to win for Company get to make a speech at the Tony Ceremony to make sure that everyone knew that David Hyde Pierce only barely won by a little?

And catharsis? I'd guess that most women would be offended at the notion that they need catharsis in order to be able to choose who to vote for.

Art has a double face, of expression and illusion.

They blame her for everything now. I'm just making an educated guess.

And no, I don't recall ever seriously taunting someone with my ability to read minds. I try to keep that skill private, lest everyone start coming to me for lottery numbers and such.

Namaste, as always, you are as wise as you are sensitive.

Art--that a silly comparison. Broadway has no reason to "woo" blocks of voters after the Tonys are chosen, but a primary is only Act One of the election cycle.

Candidates have ALWAYS wooed different segments of voters--union workers, churchgoers, seniors, Irish, Italian, Jewish, Latino, black--politicians shake hands and kiss babies.

So if Hillary supporters make up somewhere between zero and 18 million voters, that's a sizable chunk that Obama can't afford to lose, either to McCain or 3rd party (a small minority) or to apathy (the big potential problem).

But to compare it to a Tony vote is silly--and I think you knew that when you typed that.

I am not an Obama supporter but give the man his due. He won fair & square. Hillary should graciously step aside but we are talking about the Clintons however.
