models

So I'm watching this America's Next Top Model marathon on VH1, and there's this big issue about this girl who's "too short," and then they say that she's 5'7". Why in the world do you have to be tall to be a model?

And plus size models... have you seen them? I'd LOVE to look like most of the "plus size" models out there...

Insights, anyone?

re: models

it has to do with the way the clothes fit and look on you. you have to be a certain height, and that is why most models are tall.

re: models

So... I know pretty much nothing about high fashion and modeling, but I'm a little confused why the clothes that the models need to fit into aren't a realistic size for the average woman... why buy something that looks pretty on a 6', 115lb model when you're 5'6", 130?

re: models

Because some people in this world want to convince themselves that they are a step closer to being as attractive as the model when they put those clothes on.
This is my signature.

re: models

I was a child model (until I got hit with the ugly stick), and I am pretty glad to be out of it. It was very stressful for a kid. Luckily my mom was pretty against it, so she only let me do it in moderation.

re: models

I was a print-ad model, very briefly. I kept being told that I needed to "lose about 10 pounds." I hated it. And, the worst pictures ever taken of me, were during my "modeling career"!

re: models

I have just begun my (extrememly budding) career as a plus-size model..I did some work for a local store....if anyone's interested.
Was that a fat joke?

re: models

Designers want to show off the clothes so the person wearing them is pretty much a hanger.

re: models

Yes. I was a model. Marcus Schenkenberg was a super model. Can you see the difference, now?

re: models

abbaRabbit- I don't know too much about the subject, but I think the famous ones are yes the supermodels. Just like famous musicians are superstars, you see?

That is, I think that's what it is.

re: models

I used to model at Barbizan, and I would rather die than be a plus size model, so I quit. My friend also got fired for gaining weight. She went from a size 3 to 10 in a year from taking birth control. I am completely addicted to America's next top model. Am I the only one that doesnt like Shandy? she gets on my nerves, to damn skinny its nasty.

re: models

I didn't find Shandi particularily attractive. Yoanna was much prettier.

Modeling would be fun for me because I love fashion, but I am too average in size to do it. 5'6" and size 8 aren't exactly runway numbers. Too big to be a supermodel, too small to be a plus size model. Eh. . .

re: models

I didn't find Shandi very pretty either, but I think she made a huge improvement after they went to Milan. And *** spoilers*** Yoanna's last headshot in the season finale was fantastic.

re: models

Yoanna is beautiful, I guess they could just see her marketing runway clothes, because shes a f uckin rail and can wear anything. she said she did drugs. I wonder how long shes been on coke, shes not fooling anyone, we all saw her pass out.

re: models

Yoanna is on the Look For Less now on the Style Network.

As unimpressive as Shandy was, I do agree her last photo was really awesome. She made an improvement as a model for sure, as a person not so much. She was too much drama for me to handle.
