After I posted that I received 101 DALMATIONS and PETER PAN (Mary Martin) bootleg, I have just received BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS - both bootlegs. I can't take it anymore. WHAT DO I DO?
The seller of the PETER PAN DVD swears to me that it's a real dvd, but anyone with eyes can see that it was printed out on a computer, crookedly cut, and slid inside. Besides, the REAL PAN dvd isn't a standard case - it's the cardboard type cast with the click "lock" on the right side. She refuses to fully refund the DVD. I told her that I would report her, and she told me go go right ahead.
I am thoroughly pissed off - especially since each DVD ran $50 and upwards. What is the best course of action to take? I am about to punch a wall.

Report her and see what happens.
EDIT: Did you buy the DVDs after you knew the first 2 were bootlegs or did you order around the same time? If I were you I wouldn't try to buy used DVDs from Amazon anymore.

I don't think punching a wall is the best choice but I would report her.
It can't hurt...

Definitely report her. It's going to be one of two scenarios- either she purchased and resold this DVD unaware that it was a bootleg (not likely, but possible), or she's actually some slimy bootlegging weasel with 50 bajillion different seller accounts who isn't going to be terribly phased if one account gets closed down.

Posted: 3/7/06 at 12:32amI bought them all the same day. Even so, all claim the DVD's are 100% authentic. It's really absurd.

Posted: 3/7/06 at 12:52amIt is absurd, and- I hate to say it- even reporting these instances will not stop the problem. I work in an independant bookstore that was purchased three years ago from... I'll just say a less-than-reputable previous owner. The first year and a half that we were open we kept having to deal with these same kind of slimeballs who thought we would want to continue in these same less-than-reputable practices. We could not have been more plain in our desire to not deal in bootlegs, but these people kept coming around and coming around and coming around. They really did believe that we were stupid for not wanting to partake in their illegal trade. It was during this time that I learned just how, er, SLIMY these people truly were. Once, they were relegated to the flea markets of life, but the anonimity of the internet allows this practice to thrive. You can probably rest assured that this "lady" whom you purchased Peter Pan from is some bald, sweaty, middle-aged creep with multiple computers and multiple browsers with multiple email accounts and a seller ID for every one living in some squalid little trailer in Opp, Alabama. They exist because people are either content to receive a shoddy product or are too timid to complain. While you might not get too far in stopping the problem, you would be playing right into their little scam by not reporting them. If everyone would do this, they would eventualy run out of usernames and be put out of business.

Posted: 3/7/06 at 3:10amAll those dvd's are available. Why would you buy used ones and why would you pay $50.00 each when you can get a new one from anywhere from $14.99 to $29.99? What were you thinking?

List links to this seller.
You can also report them to the anti piracy 800 number that the MPAA has set up.....which I cant find right now.
http://www.mpaa.org/piracy_whoAre.asp
OR....just show the seller the link to this form and watch how quickly you get a refund...then turn them in anyway.

And don't buy bootlegs.

did you just TELL her not to buy bootlegs?!? the point of this is she didn't want too...
I guess I should tell people not fall down stairs after they fall down stairs, that will help :)
