did anyone see nutcracker, and what did you think of it? I have to see it tonight and i'm completely dreading it. I've never seen it before but it doesn't seem like my cup of tea. So I need some reassurance that I'll like it. What do you all think of it?

Do you mean just the general ballet of The Nutcracker or are you talking about something completely different?

Who doesn't like the Nutcracker??

Well, I guess the answer to that lies in the fact that no one will ever go see it with me. It's great though... I mean, I can't see what's not to like. Great, classic score. Colorful and whimsical a lot of the time, sort of dark in parts. If you HATE ballet or something, then you might not enjoy it, and maybe it helps if you see it when you're a kid. I hope you have fun, though!

One of my own Christmas traditions is to go see the National Ballet with the Children's Ballet performing The Nutcracker Suite. I love it!

I just saw the NYC Ballet's NUTCRACKER. It was my 29th co0nsecutive year of seeing this ballet. It wouldn't be Christmas unless I saw the tree grow.

BTW: Nilas Martins makes a terrific Cavalier!!!

FOSSEBOI, we'll just have to settle for AB. actually, i saw ATLANTA BALLET do nutcracker a couple of years ago, and it was delightful. i wouldn't want to see it here EVERY year, but it had been YEARS since i'd seen them do it, so it was fun. they had added a LOT to the show since my last time. and the live orchestra was back, thank goodness!

i wish it was a professional show, I got coerced into going to my friend's performance. It was boring IMO. The only parts I liked were the parts she was in. She was the doll. I thought it would probably be better more professionally done. Thanks for all your opinions though!

The NYC Ballet's performance is stunning! Beautiful sets and costumes, an incredible snowfall during the "Dance of the Snowflakes", a Christmas Tree that grows to a full 40', and a reindeer-driven sleigh to take Marie and her Prince through the air at the conclusion.

The "Waltz of the Flowers" is a virtual symphony of pastel colored rose petals and a Dewdrop that flits among them.

Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous.

This is my favorite ballet of all time. I just saw it on PBS with Mikhail Baryshnikov. He was quite young then and didn't even fill his dance belt. Even then, his dancing was magical.
