Posted: 8/5/07 at 11:50amIs it in bad taste to use audition monologues from plays that became movies? I recently found a monologue from Ronald Harwood's The Dresser and I instantly fell in-love with it. Well, I googled the thing and I guess back in 1983 it was turned into a pretty great film. I dunno, it makes me sad. I mean, I want to do the monologue but I don't wanna be compared to anyone else's performance. It's silly, though...I mean in a regular audition you may very well be up against like 10 other people doing your exact monologue. Why should I care? I shouldn't...I am just being stupid, at least...I hope I'm just being stupid. Anyway, blech...

I knew a kid who auditioned with the same monologue that opens the movie "Fame." If you've seen the movie, you know what I'm talking about.
