We had to do a creative project w/ Macbeth...I wrote a poem...
“Drenched in Sin”
*Inspired by William Shakespeare’s Macbeth *where the quotations are taken from**
“Out damned spot” “All the perfumes of Arabia cannot purify this one hand.”
Wash away the sin with the clear, soft purity. My hands are now pure and the sin is forgotten. But then why is the sin
still dirtying my hands?
Tainted hands, tainted soul.
The more I try and wash it from my hands and brain,
the more it is stuck
to my body and soul.
At first-I brushed off the thought simply
Yet, the more the thought sticks to my brain
It is on my body.
Instead of purifying the dirt, the sin is ruining what left is pure.
How can something so simple to erase from my body consume my mind and soul so much?
The water is pure
but I am such the opposite that instead of anything pure purifying me,
I will ruin.
Wash away the blood wash away the guilt with it. A few drops and rubs and I’m clean again.
“Make thick my blood” and make thin my conscience. Make thin the guilt and resignation I will have for this action.
“When we have mark’d with blood those sleepy two”-marked truly with guilt
The evidence is gone but never from me
The blood will be gone, but my guilt will
Stay.
“Blood will have blood”
His loss of blood will cause mine to stir in the brain
“I am in blood
Stepped in so far that, I should wade no more”
We waded in blood for a bit, absorbed the satisfaction of the ocean and now we are sinking deeper and deeper until the salt of the blood ocean stings my eyes and becomes permanent
“Who knew the old man to have so much blood in him?”
Who would have thought that
one little spot
would drench my body and brain and soul
