I worked for a woman whose brother got an annulment after 30 years of marriage and three kids - just so he could get remarried in the Catholic Church.

Well, my bad...that's what I always thought--so people can get annulled or did the mentioned folk pay a "tribute" and get the okay? Just askin here....

Yep annulements happen all the time All it takes is time (in my sisters case several years) and some $$$ if you want it done in a "timely" matter. Remember the Catholic Church measures time in centuries!

cheezedoodle - LOL!
Annulments in the Catholic Church are not the same as divorces. Rather, they are statements that the marriage was somehow invalid from the beginning. I remember that there was a Saint who was granted an annulment because her husband was an abusive drunk.

Ah, okay...so the legit way is if you marry someone who's misrepresented him/herself or you pony up the dough...

They probably want to get married there because it is pretty, not because they want a Catholic ceremony. Good for the venue for upholding it's own rules (I am assuming a parish presides over this venue, and as such, would determine the types of ceremonies allowed and to whom).

Was that pun intentional?
