I have some rather painful news relative to the subject who's
To be beside me at the next court ball
You were the chosen one, I know, but as tradition it should go
To the unquestioned champion in the hall
And I'm convinced that splendid Frenchman can easily conquer one and all
And besting all our local henchmen
He should sit beside me at the ball

I really liked him. He sounded a lot like Richard Burton during "What Do the Simple Folk Do". The show has some major revisions by Michael Learner. A lot of it I liked. Some of it I didn't, but "If Ever I Would Leave You" works wonderfully after "I Loved You Once in Silence". There's even a brief reprise where Lancelot and Guenevere sing "If Ever I Would Leave You" together and it's breathtaking. They finally have something to sing together after all these years. Matt Bogart is worth the price of admission alone so if you do go -- see it for him. If you're a Camelot purist there may just be too many changes for you, but I considered myself one, very partial to the OBC, and enjoyed the production immensely. There are a few artistic choices that don't work, but over all it was very nice. There was even a new passage at the end where Arthur talked about people one day sitting around the world, like they did at the table, questing again for right, justice and an end to war. It almost received a standing ovation and there was still two minutes of show left.

I was not impressed with a touring company I saw in Detroit years ago with Robert Goulet as Arthur......I just wanted to scream.
