Lyle married a gal from my hometown of Lawrence, Kansas. I used to see him there every now and then growing up. His wife's brother was a Jazz musician in town, and he and Lyle opened up a jazz club downtown that is still running there.
...Not to mention he's Mr. STAR WAGGONS.
That boy made out good.

Carol Burnett does not own solely the rights to the 1967-1972 half of the run. That is one reason for the delay.
September is the 40th anniversary of the show's debut and what a shame that there is no boxed set of the shows 11 years as well as a coffee-table book of all of the shows, their guest stars, musical numbers, etc.
One excellent spoof NOT on DVD is "Mildred Fierce," with the immortal line "Kids, they sure keep you hopping." Another great spoof not on DVD is "Flora."
Not all of the Eunice skits are on DVD either; there is the Gong Show [which is also a dramatic tour de force], Sorry, Monopoly, the sketches with Joanne Woodward, Alan Alda, and Roddy McDowall.
And there are only 2 out of 3 appearances with Maggie Smith who is in one of the best Eunice sketches with the line "Oh, Bubba, we've got a lot of work to do."

I'm still stewing over this! Why isn't this series on DVD???!?!
(There is/was a website that offers all of the episodes on DVD but after researching the website I found that most folks who purchased from them were ripped off in one way or another. I doubt the DVDs were in any way legal.)

While you're waiting, Morosco, you could always pick up one of these:
Yes, there is now a "Carol Burnett as Scarlett O'Hara" Barbie!

Two issues:
1. The rights to music clearances is expensive
2. Carol Burnett and her late husband share the rights of ownership to the 1967-72 seasons of the show. Perhaps there is a problem with negotiations?
There are a handful of DVDs out on the shows; but not many.
It would also be great if there were a coffee-table book on the show season by season. Alas, it may never happen.

fflagg, with all due respect, why do you bother to post anything about the Carol Burnett Show when you don't appear to have a sense of humor?
