So I had my first audition for my college's three shows this week. They are "She Stoops to Conquer" by Oliver Goldsmith, "Italian American Reconciliation" By John Patrick Shanley, and the musical "The Lucky Stiff". I didn't want to audition for the musical so I let them know that. The audition was one monologe for ALL THREE SHOWS. How that makes sense, I'll never know.

Anyway, I do a Brighton Beach Memoirs monologue (I know people advise against it, but I was in a pinch). I've never done a monologue before in my life, just cold readings, so I thought I bombed. I go to the callboard on Wed. and find out I got a callback for "She Stoops to Conquer". The director has me read once for Constance Neville and then again for Kate Hardcastle. After I got done with Kate, he pulls me to the side and asks me why he hasn't seen me audition before and what my major was. I told him theatre and he was shocked to find out I was a freshman. He later told me I had a good reading. I was elated. the scoop on my first ever college audition.

So I come to school on Friday expecting the cast list to be up so I can be put out of my misery of waiting for the results. I find out he was holding a second round callback and my name was on the board. I felt all shakey. I did my reading as Miss Neville. I was one of only two freshman there so I think it was a pretty big honor to get that far, even if I don't get the part. I just thought I'd share my excitement. the scoop on my first ever college audition.

Congratulations! That's amazing. Great job!

Thanks guys! I'm really excited! I'm preparing myself for a "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" audition on Wed. for a group at school that tours elementary schools to perform for children, so I at least have lots of other things to keep me busy if I don't get it.

Tumadre2, I go to Kutztown University. I'm sorry, I didn't get it the first time you asked me. I've been on and off here a little bit all day.
