actually the whole "downloadable" aspect of this is kinda cool. Too bad the product sux. oh well i guess there are worse kiddies shows performed ad nauseum.
from the press release:
Schools Will Rock You aims to make the magic of the giant hit musical available to young musicians and performers worldwide, enabling them to develop and stage their own version of the show, learning and enjoying every aspect of putting together a stage production along the way.
For the first time Schools Will Rock You will offer a complete information and support service to all participating schools and societies, and, appropriately for a musical set centuries into the future, it will be entirely Web based.
Through the digital platform at www.schoolswillrockyou.com, on registration and the payment of a small fee, schools will receive their licence, the entire score and full script of the West End show. In addition they will be able to download video clips featuring footage of the creators of the show offering advice and guidance.
The package, all downloadable from the web-site, includes the following:
·
The official script (original and primary school edit).
· The full musical score.
·
Expert one-to-one tutorial videos with the team who helped plan and stage the original worldwide production including, Brian May, Roger Taylor, Ben Elton, Mark Fisher (production designer), Arlene Phillips (musical staging & choreography), Willie Williams (lighting designer), Tim Goodchild (costume designer) & Joy Bondini (costume supervisor), Mike Dixon (music supervisor), Bobby Aitken (sound designer) and more.
· Artwork including tickets, posters and flyers that schools and societies can print out and personalise with their own information.
In addition, if using a live band is not possible, there will be an opportunity to buy a complete recorded band backing track for the entire show.
Schools Will Rock You will also provide free the unique support of an online community. Schools and societies can swap ideas, tips, tricks and stories on how they are producing their show, creating a world-wide Schools Will Rock You network. This community will be moderated and supported by a theatrical specialist to help everyone benefit fully from the interaction.
Separately, an extended DVD package will also be available for purchase, featuring instructional interviews with everyone involved in creating the London production.
Watch out also for news of the Galileo award, an annual prize to be awarded by Schools Will Rock You to the school or society show in which “The Vibe” is strongest !
Now could be your time to discover your own Galileo and Scaramouche and rock the planet…one chance, one dream, one vision!
