Is Blood Potato a theatre game? Because if that counts, it beats all others.
I starred in a short film called Magnetic Personality. Check it out!

re: theater games

I also love Freeze. Five realities is fun too. I like most of them, but I hate bus stop with a passion!

re: theater games

I've got one that will top them all: Vampire Tag AKA Let's Get The Teacher Fired. It must be played in a darkened auditorium, preferably with various pieces of scenery scattered all over the place. One person is selected to be the vampire, and the rest of the class has to hide from them. When the vampire catches someone, the other player also becomes a vampire, in addition to the first one. The game continues until everyone is a member of the cult of the undead.
Obviously, the real fun of the game is in running around a nearly pitch-black auditorium. And boy is it ever fun!

re: theater games

not exactly a theatre game, but more of a theatre tradition at my school: do you guys ever play mafia? It's really complicated with a bunch of winking and tagging and accusations involved...none of us understand it except for the seinors, but we still play it.
Was that a fat joke?

re: theater games

I've played a game called Mafia, but it involves a deck of cards and is purely mental, not physical.

re: theater games

catieelphie1-MAFIA IS SOO INTENSE!! in a good way!! I love playing it until people start getting b*tchy, saying "i want to be God now!! You opened your eyes!!" that's when it gets bad, but I consider it a theatre/slumber party game because you have to act and be able to think on the spot.

I like Statues and Baracade as well...
re: theater games
And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

re: theater games

I was a director this year for my school's one-act play festival and we always had our cast play mafia. It was a lot of fun. We would also play Freeze. I can't remember the exact title, but one day when I was gone my co-director made the cast play a game very similar to Chubby Bunny except worse and yah. I hate the Dating Game but we've played it. We also do things like "Things you might hear at the DNC, etc." always fun. Mafia was definitely the best.

Does anyone know the game "Big Booty"?

re: theater games

I'm not sure if these are well-known theater games, but my director taught us games that I really liked called "Freeze" and "Statues in the Park". We also played this weird miming one but it didn't have a name. I think he made it up. It was fun though! We also played "The Winking Game", but that's not really a theater game...
How do you play "Prince of Paris"?

re: theater games

LightMyCandle125, would you mind explaining "Big Booty" a little bit? It sounds really interesting.

re: theater games

In our version we always say "Aww sh*t, big booty big booty big booty." but that's how we play. It can be fun but when you only have 8 people playing it's not so fun.

re: theater games

TxTwoStep .. That game got pretty interesting once. I couldn't play since I was in a skirt. Big Booty definitely gets you to wake up. Oh ... I played Mafia before you can either use special handshakes or like you said CatieElphie1 winking. That is a lot of fun. You don't know who to trust. With the right people the game hitchhiker can be pretty amusing.

re: theater games

at my school we do a lot of things from 'Whose Line is it anyway' my favorite being the dating game or the party guests thing. Ah haven't played zip zap zop in so long... anyone ever played 'bippity boppity boop'?
Here in this cold white room tied up to these machines, it's hard to imagine life as it used to be. Laughing, screaming, tumbling queen... Like the most amazing light show you've ever seen. Whirling, swirling, never blue... How could you go and die? What a selfish thing to do... RIP Jason

re: theater games

Hitchhiker is an improv game where 3 people start off pretending they are in a car (one person driving etc... so the hitchhiker signals for a ride and the people in the car already, act out picking the person up.(pulling the over and such while having a conversation) The hitchhiker has some special quality about them. It could be that they say everything to the tune of mary had a little lamb to snorting like steve urkle. Then everyone else in the car does the same thing that the hitchhiker is doing while continuing their conversation. It could be just about anything. Thats why with really creative people in the car together it can be hilarious. You rotate seats as new hitchhikers come into the car. (the person who leaves everytime is the driver) Everyone continues acting like the previous hitchhiker until you figure out the new trait. I hope what I wrote makes sense.

re: theater games

"i like What are you doing" where you have do the action that the other person last said, and they ask you "what are you doing" and you have to say something that is COMPLETLY different then the action you are currnetlydoing. Crazy hard game.
