Sweetie,
Go do things you love and it will not hurt as much.
I am in the same boat. I dropped the bastard and now he wants me back.
But I don't want him.
Everyones a little bit unsatisified, But only for now.
Only for now.
re: there's a fine, fine line
Hang with the people that love you and know that everything is only for now.

Nothing hurts more than uncertain matters of the heart. ):

A lot of us here have been there before and know how uncomfortable it can be.

My thoughts are with you. Hang in there because better days are coming.

re: there's a fine, fine line

I am fortunate to currently be in a 10+ year relationship with my partner, but I have had a number of relationships before, and unfortunately, we don't always have the luxury of receiving "closure" when someone decides they don't want us in their lives anymore. That is when we need to find strength within ourselves to pick ourselves up and start over again - because we are worth BETTER!

And you are, midnghtdolphin.

BIG HUGS!

Oh Honey, lots of us here have your back, and have been or are currently in the same situation (myself included.) We should form the BWW Board "Fine, Fine Line" club....we could all go drink or something. :) Too bad I live so far away":)

Everything in life is only for now.....:) Keep smiling!

There's always room for pathos - and jazz hands.

Its oh so true.

re: there's a fine, fine line

Just don't waste too much of your life on someone who doesn't want to be with you.

Too many immature people play the "If I treat him/her like crap, then they will get mad and break up with me so I can be the victim."

I say again, don't waste your life.

re: there's a fine, fine line

Can I jump in here too? I'm currently in the middle of a very painful break up of almost 4 years. We had broke up over the summer and then the beginning of October he begged and begged, sent flowers, tons of emails, sent cards all the stuff he had not done before and like a dummy I took him back. It was great up until last Saturday night, we haven't talked since then and I've decided I don't care what stops he pulls out this time, (if there even is a this time, but given his usual pattern he'll try the same thing in another week or so) anyway I am not giving in. A person can only take so much hurt! I've decided though that no matter what age you are relationships don't change. Needless to say I am very depressed to the point I'm thinking of getting medication, which I try to stay away from. But when one cannot get up of the couch for 2 days straight and cries at everything, I think it's time. Sorry to ramble on, and thanks for listening! Does it get better???? Please tell me it does! I'm going home after work today and throwing every piece of clothing, pictures, anything that is his away. I hate to be childish like that but I can't bare to look at it any longer.

Oh... I have SOOOO been there.

1) YES it does get better, but you must completely end the relationship for it to start getting better.

2) I once read that if you get your heart broken, it takes half the length of the relationship to get over it. So if you were with him for four years, it will take two to completely get over it.

3) I never resorted to anti-depresants, but I did go to a psycologist. It helps. Actual shrinks want to put on you on drugs, Psycologists don't (can't)

4) Find a new hobby. One that you enjoy, but you know your ex would not.

5) Try to remove yourself from the enviroment that reminds you of him. You might have to move if it's really bad.

6) This is the most important... have a transistional relationship... soon. In other words, go out and get laid. It's the best medication there is.

re: there's a fine, fine line

Thanks Rodney, some good advice there.
Although I don't like number 2! I should have never taken him back because this summer I was actually getting over him. Now your saying 2 years??? OY!!! NO!!! I can't!!
I had an offer for number 6, but I'm not like that, don't think I could just get laid for the sake of getting laid. Know what I mean?

re: there's a fine, fine line

number 2: I didn't make it up. But I will say that when I first heard the "half the time" thing it was just past the 18 month point after a three year relationship ended and I thought "well, I'm ok so I guess it's true"

number 6: but it's not getting laid just for the sake of getting laid. It's getting laid for the sake of helping your own mental happiness. One minute of sex is the quivalent of one day on prozac.

Now that made me laugh! I'd hope it'd last longer than a minute! re: there's a fine, fine line. No, I get what your saying though.

I'm glad I was able to make you laugh.

Do this: Make a list of things that make you happy.

re: there's a fine, fine line

here's my new theory, and no, i havne't talked to him yet. anyway, the theory is: what happens happens. i know it sounds hopeless, but it's not. it's more like, i can't stress about it anymore. i just can't. i need to know what's going on and stressing isn't helping. so what happens happens. if nothing else, i can always just go find him when i get home and find out what happened. it's only a month away.
