He's just a kid that has poor spelling. And the improvements he has made have beein significant.

And besides, I think it's not a matter of Liam being lazy, because the kid tries...I think it's that a bunch of old, past-it, washed-up arseholes are too lazy to bother making an effort to read what he writes, instead they just treat him like he is some inferior human being brought here just for their own amusement.

I learned at an early age not that it is not worth it to hang out with anyone who treats you like crap. Yeah, they're older, but not all older kids treat younger kids that way. When I was 14, most of my friends were 16-17. They could be just the garden-variety high school macho jerks who need to boost their ego by putting down someone else. Anyone who is interested in theatre can relate to that.

[It is possible to talk to Liam as if he were anyone else on the board. Sticking up for someone who is a victim of unprovoked abuse by other members is not necessarily "coddling". Sometimes it is a sign of friendship. Why such a fuss over his spelling anyway? I'm sure the members of this board are not the first to draw his attention to it. After 14 years, I would think the problem has been addressed ad nauseum without our help.]

Each and everytime someone attempts to defend Liam with the type of comments that: He has a disablitity; he can't spell; that's the way he is; he's only a youngster....each and everytime, in my opinion, a disservice is done to Liam. Those are the comments of enablers. Accepting and enabling the poor spelling to continue rather than encouraging him to work on improving.

That's the biggest hunk of bullsh!t I've read today...

Well, paradox, the thing is, Namo was responding to what he felt everyone was doing in response to Liam. Both Namo and Etoile haven't actually said anything about Liam, they've made comments on the reactions that people have TO Liam. And honestly, reading what both had to say, it seems they both have Liam's best interest in mind.

Aww Liam, that really sucks. Although, I do feel that everyone goes through it, as was proven by so many people having a similar experience. And I think that, as if has been said by all of us, everyone else out there would call them a bunch of names and tell you to get new friends, friends that are nice to you.

[I feel sure that with positive reinforcement both by his parents/teachers, and yes, even by us here at BWW, Liam's grammar and/or spelling will improve ten-fold. However I really don't think it was right of us to bring that up on this thread, when he has obviously had a hard time of things and came to us for support. Has anyone else noticed that he hasn't posted on the thread for a while?]
