I don't know why it has been so difficult to master a simple little trill, all it is a half step sung quickly, while at least in my case. Any advice on how I could practice this and make it come out correctly?

I don't know any tips particularly. I got the hang of it by practicing a lot. Starting off slowly then speeding up. I still feel like a dodo (or just a plain ol' fool) when I get to the speedy trill bit, but at least I can do it. ^_^

Thank you very much... I guess practicing is really all that I can do.
The part that I am concerned with is Johanna's in our local production of Sweeney. I am so not going to pull whatever the hell it was that Jayne Wisner did in the film haha.

Heh, that's why I started practising in the first place. XD I've never seen the music so I don't know if it's written in, but Lauren Molina always started slower and sped up; if that's written in the score, then it's a big big help. :3

Yeah, I like to phrase trills starting slow and speeding up, it sounds nicer than vibrating like a jackhammer right off the bat and helps you get to the trill easier than starting right on it. Doesn't the trill you're talking about start with eighth note pickups into the trill? That should help you phrase it and speed it up. If not, add 'em! The purpose of that trill is to mimic the green finches and linnet birds, so think of that while you're doing it. If you really can't trill fast enough, do eighth notes into triplets and then vibrato. That'll also help you out of the trill into the next note because you won't be so out of control that you can't sing the last "ah" before "Green..." without the trill.

-Was that a fart?
-My fault, I fear.

Yes... all eigth notes and some hold the "tive" in "adaptive" but it's not written in... just comes naturally for most. Thank you so much though.. I have been stuggling with this for about two years now... grrr... I just love her part sooo sooo much and I refuse to totally change in and just do a run or something because I can't get it. That's not an option for me... I will get it haha.

But, again, thank you for your suggestions... I'll keep working on it re: trill advice anyone?

It all depends on what style you're doing the trill in. Is it above or below? Is it an appogiatura you're singing it on? (I imagine so).

It's (mostly) about steady support/chest compression.
