lol...
ok so i'm going to 3 weddings coming up. one of them is my cousin's wedding, and i'm part of the wedding party, and she's getting my tux and everything for me, since in the wedding party, everyone matches (duh)
however, the second and third weddings are my friend's weddings, and while i'm invited, i'm not in the wedding party. in the past, for weddings, i've done with the little black dress standby. obviously that's now what i'm going to be wearing now.
only problem is, i've never looked around at weddings to see what the men were wearing.
one of the weddings is casual, one is dressy (it's actually going to be at in washington DC next to the white house... my friend's mom is a federal judge)
what types of things do guys were to weddings, both dressy weddings and casual weddings. the only thing is i have to wear black sneakers instead of dress shoes because i wear leg braces. my cousin and both my friends are already cool with that, so i dont have to worry about shoes. but what else to i wear??
Abba, I'm so glad you have such supportive friends and family!
I'm not a guy, but from what I've noticed at weddings my advice is a nice black suit with a silk tie to the dressy one, and depending on how casual the other one is, maybe chinos with a dress shirt and sport coat? Do you think you need a tie for that one?

For the dressy one, you probably want to wear a shirt and tie, and probably a sportscoat or suitjacket if you have one or can get your hands on one.
For the casual one, I'd imagine khakis and a nice shirt, without a tie, maybe?
i dont have a suit right now. people have been telling me to hold off on getting a suit because once i start horemones it may not fit anymore. however, i've been thinking of going someplace like berlington coat factory or another discount store and buying one just to have for when things like this come up, and not spend a fortune on it incase it won't fit me in a year or two.
i do, however, have 2 pairs of "dressy" pants... black and khaki and a few nice shirts. i only have one tie but my mom says i looks like i'm in the mafia when i wear it because i have a matching fedora... i think i'm only supossed to look like that at family events to blend in with the rest of my family haha
i'll have to go through my closet later tonight and see what i have to work with.
thank you =]

Buy that black suit. Wear it to the fancy wedding. Wear the pants with a dress shirt (and tie if you want_ to the casual one.
That's a good idea, Joe. Wear it with a white shirt and really nice silk tie to the dressy wedding, and the pants with a more casual shirt to the casual one!
that..... actually sounds really simple.
thanks!

Yeah, you almost might try Goodwill or Salvation Army as well if you're looking for a cheap suit in a pinch. Then it won't cost you much so it won't matter if you grow out of it once you start shooting up the man juice.
"shooting up the man juice"
Phyllis! You just made me spit wine on my monitor!
man juice means so many different things to different people... my cousin and i had this conversation XD
i won't go to salvation army (they dont like teh gays) but there's a huge goodwill a few towns over... there's also a consighnment shop near me that only does formal wear called FABrique.

Or you could just wear your little black dress (with the sneakers, of course) and just completely eff with everyone's heads.
The consignment shop sounds like a great possibility!
phyllis, that would be really hot, especially since i stopped shaving my legs in june XD

Everyone has made some really good suggestions. The consignment shop sounds like a winner to me. I just wanted to ask where the weddings are being held. Sometimes location dictates dress. A reception is in someone's yard is a lot different than one at a hotel or country club.
The last wedding I was at was at a country club in Maryland (both the wedding and the reception were at the same place) and people showed up looking they were going to a country music concert - denim, denim, denim. IMO that should never be appropriate attire for a wedding.
I totally agree, Eris. WTH country club was that at? The country clubs I'm familiar with forbid denim without exception...
I don't remember the name of it but it was in the area of Frederick, MD. I wasn't sure there was much they could do since they couldn't tell wedding guests to leave.
one is at a church in new britski and i believe the reception is at the crystal ballroom (that's the casual wedding)
one is literally next to the white house (that would be the dressy one)
i honestly can't rememner where my cousin's wedding is because i just do what she tells me to do and go where she tells me to go. she comes over with pictures and says "this is what you're wearing" or "this is what the basket you'll be holding looks like" (i'm handing out... umm... i've been refering to them as programs but they have the names of the wedding party and the songs and everything like that in them) or "this is what the flower on your tux will look like" and i just say "ok kris."
If this is the place the casual reception is being held then I would definitely say khakis/slacks and a button down shirt
ETA: "program" is the correct terminology for the little booklets that are handed out at the wedding.
Crstyal Ballroom
haha yes that's the one.

Eris, I'm just dying at the thought that anyone would think that it was ok to wear denim to a wedding, let alone at a country club where denim is traditionally a total no-no! LOLOLOL!
Abba, let us know how it all turns out! I'm sure you'll do wonderfully!
I say, depending on your body type, get thee to H&M and get one of their Slim Cut suits... always less than $200 for the whole she-bang (jacket and slacks) and they usually fit right off the rack because they have a million sizes. I've gotten gorgeous suits there for as little as $80. They also have the best t-shirts, as far as I'm concerned.
Get a v-neck t-shirt ($10), a sweater ($30) and a shirt/tie combo ($40) and you have 3 distinct looks and all can be paired with the suit and you can wear the v-neck, sweater or the shirt/tie underneath.
Plus, H&M has all the trendiest patterns/colors for their shirts and ties. You could get a bangin' wardrobe for less than $200 if you shop right and look good all year round with around 12 different outfits/looks just from those 4 pieces (suit, t-shirt, sweater, shirt/tie).
I did this all through high-school (private, required jacket/tie) and was voted Best Dressed! :) For whatever that's worth...
P
Kohls has amazing deals on suits too, or you can always try Target. They have inexpensive jackets and pants.

My boyfriend and I just went to a wedding last week, and I got to help him with this! He and most of the other guys our age there were wearing nice suit pants and collared shirts and silk ties. A great tie can make an outfit.
