i noticed today that when i begin to sing loud, and belt, i tend to shift from my diaphram to my throat...that is not good. or healthy. since i havent been in a organized choir, or had lessons in quite some time, i was wondering if anyone had an excercise that could help me reteach myself how to not use my throat so much.
thanks!

Do you mean on how to move up and down smoothly without breaks? Lip-rolls are awesome ... gradually go higher and higher (with each breath,do a scale, the only difference being the top note is a little higher each time) without thinking of hitting notes. This not only helps in getting higher in head voice, but also teaches you to relax the throat and hit high notes effortlessly. Keep at it.
