First time I saw the Smithsonian (the big elephant at Natural History) at the ripe old age of 10 I swore that I was going to work there some day. Unfortunately, it took me 40 years to get there. Now I'm retired from a paying job I can finally work where I want to. Only problem is that I don't get paid for it!
The Shakespeare Theatre - where I work - isn't the same as the Folger Shakespeare Theatre. My theatre is on 7th street, just up from the National Mall. I've been working with them for a number of years now. They do incredible work and I've always been pleased with the plays produced here. Michael Kahn is our artistic director and I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.
http://www.shakespearetheatre.org/ The Folger Shakespeare Theatre is located behind the Capital building. I love their theatre simply because it looks so Elizabethan. I can't quite say the same about the productions there. Some are good - some not so much. DC is second in the country to New York for it's number and quality of theatres. I absolutely love it here.
(And it has one other benefit. It's close to New York!)
