If you look closely, you will see that Rick's puppets appear to have realistic hands while the other can only operate the mouth and one arm only. The two-person puppets are more realistically expressive. It really amazing to watch two people working two halves of one character so perfectly.

I don't have the link handy, but there was a really good interview with Jennifer Barnhart (on playbill.com, I think), where she explained how performing the two-person puppets is sort of like ballroom dancing, in that she keeps her free hand on Rick's back and follows his lead, and he telegraphs little subtle cues to let her know what he's going to do - it was a very interesting article.

Edit: I found the Jen Barnhart interview from playbill.com - follow the link.

I know I'm not the only one thinking this so...what is with the combover? Can't someone tell him? I really noticed it even more in comparison to the pic with the hat. He's actually aging himself with that hair style, with the hat you can actually see a good looking guy. I'll shut up now but someone should tell him.

EDIT: thought I should add something positive here, he's SUPER talented, amazing even! Updated On: 3/7/05 at 10:27 PM

Well... re: why dose rick need help? I'm not the one to answer this, because I think Rick Can Do No Wrong, and I see him as a good looking guy with or without the hair, hat, or whatever. re: why dose rick need help? But I sort of doubt he needs anyone to "tell him" about his hair; he might just feel he's between a rock and a hard place when it comes to changing it. I'll admit, at first, I used to think, "Rick, sweetie, lose the combover," but now I'm so used to it, it's just part of his overall charm. I'd still love to see him without it (and I'm sure I'd find him every bit as attractive), but he has to do what makes him comfortable - and I can understand not changing it during the run of Q, because it's gonna be a big change, and there's no going back. (And, not to presume what he's thinking, but I know I've kept my hair long because cutting it off would mean admitting my Wasted Youth is Gone Forever. re: why dose rick need help? )

Oh, and you're right, he is super-talented. re: why dose rick need help?
