re: wicked movie

Have to put Amy Adams as Galinda.

Good idea posting this under student, the jerks on the B-way board would have torn you apart for this.

re: wicked movie

For the most part, I would have to say the original cast. Def. Idina as Elphie (she's bound to offered the role). As far as Galinda/Glinda goes, I love Kristen Chenoweth, but I also love Erin Mackey, so either of them. As for the others... I don't care much, that's why I just original cast. I also agree with lovelyspotlight, I think the movie should follow the book more so than the show. The book explains soooo much more, and to be truthfully honest, the musical hardly follows the book at all (not that that takes away from its greatness, because it certainly does not). I think the stage version should be totally left alone. I don't want them messing with it like they did Phantom or anything, no offense to anyone, but I am NOT a Gerard Butler fan. At first I was like, "okay, he's a lttle more of a demanding Phantom... but later it got really old... he's too agressive for the part."

Anyways, my point is this.... Now, since the Phantom film premired that is what Phantom is always asscosiated with,Gerard as the mean demanding Phantom and Emmy Rossum... no one even pays attention to the stage version anymore. I would hate to see that happen to Wicked, simply because it is so brillant.

The should just make a film inspired by the musical that is based off the book, that leans more to the book's perspective if that made any sense.

Okay, I'm through rambling.

re: wicked movie

i was thinking that lea michele would make a good 'young elphaba' if they decided that having idina menzel as 'older elphaba' was crucial.

there is a resemblance, being painted green etc will increase that.

not sure if lea michele would be vocally strong enough for defying gravity, but worst comes to worst they could dub idinas voice onto her...because idina's voice can sound very young.

if they wanted to do the whole younger/older thing then of course they could have cheno...and it would be a lot easier to cast a galinda because her vocals aren't required to be great...she just needs to perform the character spot on.

i don't view it as essential to have the OBC starring in the film...(as long as the film cast are genuinely talented perfect-for-the-role actors....and not tween pleasing celebrities)....however, it would be great for the OBC to have cameos...nods to the 'real' fans if you get me?

idina as elphabas mother (she has mentioned she'd be up for that)...cheno as a munchkin.....haha.

all i ask is that they don't use 'big' names in the principle roles.

re: wicked movie

I agree about Idina and Kristin doing cameos.
I don't think they could pull off being the leads again. I couldn't see Kristin as a school-age girl. Same with Idina.
Maybe someone like Teal Wicks or Caissie Levy as Elphaba...both fresh-looking and powerful acting/voice-wise.

re: wicked movie

I dont want it as a movie movie, I want it filmed like CATS was, on a stage without an audience. I think half the magic of WICKED is to see it ONSTAGE.

re: wicked movie

couldn't agree more with leo.
that's the best suggestion anyone (including myself)has mentioned.

re: wicked movie

if they were to do a stage film...they would do OBC.

as fine as that would be, i have to admit it would be a bit anti climatic to not have an audience....

how rubbish would it be to have defying gravity end with silence?

You are right! i was just thinking to myself how similar lea and idina were!

"Have to put Amy Adams as Galinda. "
that would be a great choice. she absolutely looks like a Hollywood Galinda :)

wise words. wise words indeed.

re: wicked movie

i completely agree with above posters saying that it was a good idea to post this thread here rather than on the main board.

the users on it can be so condescending.

anyway...

as much as the wicked film will cause controversy among fans....i really am looking forward to it.

i mean the original team aren't exactly going to not be a part of the film production, so we can have faith that it will be good.

they know what they're doing.

re: wicked movie

I'd say Annaleigh Ashford would make an amazing young Glinda. She also has the looks and personality to end up falling into Hollywood after Wicked.
