Hey there gang. Been a while since I have posted because my show opened this week. Busy. We got a couple of reviews and I am proud to say that I got my worst mention ever:
"Darron, channeling Albert Brooks by way of Adam Sandler, redefines grating with his embarrassing work as Sammy's ghostwriter."
OUCH! Now that was just mean. This is the same guy that wrote the really mean review about Suzanne Sommers' show. I feel honored!
So who wants to go see this show now??

Maybe this will help you feel better...
Seriously, it is never nice to get such a bad mention, but at least you can laugh it off. And he uses "Albert Brooks, Adam Sandler and grating" as if that is a BAAAAD thing?
I'm cool with it. The audience seems to love what I am doing and that is the main goal, right? And I hate Adam Sandler, Robin Williams and Jim Carrey while most people love them so I can see what he is saying.
Thanks for the blade.
I weep in solitude.

Nope, he spelled it wrong. Which is fine with me since it will never come up if ever I am Googled. If it was a good mention, I would have emailed him right away to get it spelled right, but I think I am fine with it the way it is...

Ugh, that sucks! But, hey, you've got a great sense of humor about it, and it's just one mean ol' critic's opinion, anyway. If the audience likes you, you should be proud!!
And lol on the spelling thing...that's actually great that it won't come up, Google-wise. (See? Maybe the Universe knew you didn't deserve such an icky review!)
Write down these words of Jerome Robbins and look at them whenever you get a bad review or get fired:
"It's a bitter pill to swallow, but you SH*T it out the other end."
That's great PalJoey. I don't mind that I got a bad mention, but I feel bad for the show. The composer and director have such faith in the show that I think they are probably more disappointed than I am. Afterall, I will just go on to the next show, right?
Sorry to see it got a bad review. It is nice to see that you are being a good sport about it though. I hate seeing bad reviews and knowing that the people are taking it to heart.
yeah, I hate for people to let it affect their performance. I mean, this is just a showcase with ten shows so a review is not going to change the outcome of the run. We are not getting paid so a bad review isn't going to make the show close and I lose my big fat Equity contract or anything. Good or bad, it is over on the 29th.
Didn't Christian Borle talk about starting a company to put bad reviews on shirts and caps for people?
I love that idea! I so love it! I think what he said about me is hilarious. I want to put it on my resume. I could use part of it to make it look like it was positive like they did for In MY LIfe.
If I just say "Darron channels Albert Brooks by way of Adam Sandler" people would assume it was a good thing, right?
Okay, so we got another review and it was better. I was not mentioned. (whew!)
