(The computer, not the makeup.)
I don't know a great deal about macs (though I should), and I am having the worst time e-mailing attachments.
I have not purchased a Microsoft Office package (no way I'm spending $300 on that right now), and I consistantly come across people who cannot open documents that I send them.
I try sending them as Apple Works, Text Edit, and I even tried saving one as a Word document - but to no avail. I have no been able to figure out how to save my files as a PDF (though I'm sure it's possible), and I'm just a bit exasperated.
Any help is appreciated. What is the EASIEST and BEST way to type documents and be able to successfully send them as attachments?
Thanks in advance.

If you use the Text editor, save it as RTF (rich text format).
I think in order to save to PDF you must have some Adobe product installed as well. But that's just my guess. Check to see if you can print to PDF, that would be the easiest.

If you type something in AppleWorks you can save it as a word file (.doc) or in rich text format (RTF) and either one should be fine. I have "saved" documents before by sending them to myself in email attachments and been able to open them on PCs. Oh, and I reccommend using AppleWorks to type because the formatting can get really messed up with Text Edit when you try to open it with Word.
Without purchasing Adobe software I don't know how to save things as .pdf files, but you can view pdfs by downloading the free Adobe viewer for mac software. It has better pdf functions than the "preview" program that come with your mac.

RTF is the safest to save it in for anyone to open.
I don't have appleworks, so I have no idea how that works.

Posted: 5/22/07 at 6:44pmThis might not be terribly useful, but I actually have a "Print to PDF" option as one of my printers. I don't have Adobe installed, and I'm not sure what other program would have installed that - so it might be a default.

To turn an Appleworks document into a PDF:
1) With your document open, go to File: Print
2) In the bottom right hand corner of the window that pops up, select "PDF"
3) Select "Save as PDF" or "Mail PDF"
