Posted: 7/29/07 at 8:10pmi saw the last performance this afternoon and it was my first time seeing it and i absolutely loved it. I felt the show as a whole is not the best ever, but this cast really made me enjoy it very much It was very emotional and so wonderful seeing audra do this role. I did TKTS this morning and sat 3rd row orchestra right it was amazing. Audra looked right at me several times especially during Raunchy.... i was touched!

i love how she does "raunchy"! it must have been fun to be that close.
how was the audience? was there any special speech at the end? did you also stage door?

Posted: 7/29/07 at 8:29pmI forgot one thing last night that happened at the stage door...somebody brought a playbill from the 20th century that John Cullum was in and they sat there and talked about that show...it was so cool

It was WONDERFUL!!! Audra was spot on. Steve was amazing. Bobby was adorable. The whole cast was wonderful!! I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary...no tricks or anything that I saw. "Raunchy" was definitely in full form and AMAZING!!!
My tears started with "Old Maid", then dried over intermission, but were in full-force by "Wonderful Music". And I was sobbing at curtain call.
So were they. Audra made a little speech thanking us all for being there and explaining to people who didn't know that it was the last show. She thanked Lonny and others involved with the production. Then thanked us all again saying she knew there were other places we could have gone in the city...something like out to Long Island, getting carried away by gypsies or to an enchanted castle, and she appreciated us being there.
The stage door really wasn't any crazier than I'd seen it before. Definitely nothing like closing at The Vertical Hour. The whole cast was really great. A lot of them are off to LA. Aurdra, John Cullum is going to shoot an episode of..."Mad Men" I think he said ~ some new series. Steve's moving out there tomorrow to give it a go out there. Bobby's starting rehearsals fr something with the Public.
It was a GREAT day!!!! Very emotional. But great!!

FINALLY, thanks for a detailed review!! I'm surprised that the stage door wasn't that crazy. It's great to hear about their plans after the show as well.
I assume the show was sold out? did they sell rush tickets?

I think every single cast member came out of the stage door with red-rimmed eyes !!! They were all crying.
Bobby's were the worst. You could tell he was sobbing !!
The show was amazing !! (as usual)
This was simply a great production !

Posted: 7/29/07 at 11:08pmjochang ~ If it wasn't sold out it was darn close. I don't know if they had rush or not. I'd guess so because when I got into Manhattan from Brooklyn I walked by the tkts board and it was on there. I was SO SAD!!!! but the mezz looked full from my vantage point.

I was looking around as well, and did not see any open seats in the Mezz--- I am guessing that the show must have been a
sell-out, or very close to it.

Posted: 7/29/07 at 11:12pmthanks for the review! I'm SO SAD to see this show & cast go. I can't believe it wasn't taped! How tragic that both this & GG are left only to our memories.

Posted: 7/29/07 at 11:12pmlast night was almost sold out too...just the upper balcony seats were vacant and they were doing rush last night...I have been dying for details all night so thanks...hope BATB was awesome too...

violet ~ It was awesome! I'm sure I would have cried harder if I hadn't cried almost the whole way through 110.
An emotional day all around. (Beauty's why I didn't get a review of 110 up until late.)

I was there, too. Ridiculous, yes, but I ran to TKTS on a whim at about 12:15 and got a seat in the front mezz. Beautiful show. There was a man in the front row of the front mezz making strange and unnecessary noises (an inappropriate whoop at some point in early Act 1 and...much more) before he was approached by house staff, thank God. Also, a strange high-pitched noise similar to a whistle...irrelevant.
Everyone was in fine form this afternoon. I still found Innvar to be fairly consistently flat, but that probably isn't an issue for most. There is really no beating Kazee, Steggart, Cullum, Butler, and Duren. I can't even begin to put into words the brilliance of McDonald's performance. This was, by the entire cast, one of the most intense and effortlessly performed shows I have ever seen, and one of the most believable in terms of characterization. It was a joy to watch and I am glad I was able to see it!
The only noticeable tears I saw at curtain were from Duren and Steggart, but I didn't stay for the stage door. Definitely a cute speech by Audra.

Posted: 7/29/07 at 11:27pmI loved how the acting in this was so effortless, so natural...they all seemed to relate so well to eachother and they could really play with their roles..I wish it was recorded for PBS so I could show all my drama kids, so they could see what acting is suppose to be

Posted: 7/29/07 at 11:30pmbroadwaybaby ~ I totally heard that guy. I'm glad they quieted him down!! The whistling noise I think was a hearing aid that wasn't adjusted for the hearing assist thing they had. Because it happened at the beginning of each act...like the hearing aid had not beenturned down before using the theatre device. It was annoying though.

do you think a majority of the audience knew it was the last performance of the show?
it seems like for some closing performances, annoyances occur - like a cell phone going off during joann's staredown with bobby in company a few weeks ago for their last show. you'd think if the audience knew it was the last show, they would be sure to be on their best behavior.

Posted: 7/29/07 at 11:38pmdid the people in the front row get to keep the towels today??

I couldn't tell. People around me weren't talking about it. I agree about best behavior.
Sadly...as I witnessed at Beauty that's not always the case. (I won't go into details, but the woman who flounced into the seat in front of me was horrid! She almost pushed the usher down the stairs GRABBING a playbill from him (she wanted to CLIMB OVER EMPTY SEATS to get to hers rather than going in the row to which she was assigned. Then apparently went to another usher to complain that SHE was treated rudely!)

Yeah. I was in shock. Like, let the enchantment wash over you lady. Just relax. She never showed up after intermission, though her bag was in a chair. I wonder if someone had to be called or something.
Anyway... back to 110!! :) and
