THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!!

Going to a musical late in its run is like going to a prostitute late in her shift.

I look forward to all the interviews with JRB where he talks about how wonderful and underappreciated he is.
Ugh, I know.

I still don't "get" Jason Robert Brown, I find him to be the most overrated theater composer of his generation.

"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

So happy for JRB. His music is wonderful, and I'm so excited to actually see this.

SPRING AWAKENING is the next WICKED, by the way.

I really don't get the SPRING AWAKENING/WICKED comparison nor do I get the need to compare any show that seems successful to WICKED.

"SPRING AWAKENING is the next WICKED, by the way."

You mean, by having a weak book, forgettable songs, overblown production values and a screaming, teeny-boppers fan base?

Oooh, I can't wait.

If Spring Awakening was the next Wicked, it'd be sellling out.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

I am excited about this one too. What I have heard, I love. And yeah, this is about 1000 times better than high shcool musical. I would much rather have middle schoolers loving this than that one.

Here's a link to some of the songs. There is a video with the title song, and a medley of songs when you scroll down.

I have to say the music is not that bad, but it just feels like something you'd watch on the Disney channel...I'm not so sure I'd want to go see it...the description of the story on wikipedia sounds horrendous.

I thought for sure this was some kind of joke. Speaking as one who has actually seen it, this show was awful. The only good aspect was the lead girl, the one with the awesome alto. I think she'd make a great Ilse in "Spring Awakening".
Now having seen SA as well as 13, I can state that they're virtually the same show, just that SA is realistic and sensitive while "13" gives the teen years the bubblegum treatment. Ex., in SA, we have teen boys singing about masturbation. In 13, the jock has a number, I believe it was called "Here Comes the Tongue," about his desire (sans technique) to French a bimbette. I could not make this up. Or even the fact that in SA, the onstage band can always been seen, whereas in 13, they're hidden behind a garage door (why?!)
Yet, I love L5Y. It is one of my all-time favs. But then, Schwartz followed Godspell with Wicked, so...

The night I saw it in LA, I overheard someone saying "You know something is wrong when you want to go onstage and kick the crutches out from under the handicapped kid" on the way out of the theatre.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

D2, that made me laugh out loud.
I also laughed very much after hearing the "it's so bad it's funny" title song on that clip. I don't get how Jason Robert Brown can get away with putting that song on stage.

It made me laugh out loud too. Biggest laugh of the night, actually, and I was still laughing when we got back to our hotel.

Wow. I'm in the target group for this show and I did not like that song.

Oh boy I completed shut out the memory of "Here Comes the tongue" number. And when you think about it, I just can't believe that JRB wrote the number or even allowed to use it on the stage. I want to ask him about it, maybe I should and he may answer it on his blog.

I love JRB, but not so sure I want to see something about middle school. I have enough bad memories from then.
