#016 Measure Audition
Posted: 1/4/05 at 9:24amOkay, well, I have a dilemma. I have an audition coming up in February that calls for two 16-measure audition pieces. One upbeat, one ballad. I am a mezzo, but I often enjoy singing alto and/or 1st soprano. I have a very strong voice, but I don't know how to showcase it in 16 measures. Can anyone help me with some song suggestions?? I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

welcome to our world! What would you sing if you had the whole song to do? Start from there and see if there are any good 16 bar cuts. That is a starting off point. You could also post what songs you would do and we can all give you a hand.
Wait til you prepare your 16 and then you go to the audition and there are a ton of folks there and they cut down to 8 bars or better yet Disney cut to 4 last month.

Hey I'm also a mezzo, and i have TONS of 16 bar cuts. my main song is Stranger to the rain from Children of eden...it's a really great song and i ahve a great 16 bar cut that i can send you via email if you'd like to see it. also, i have tons more. that's just the most difficult, yet easiest song to audition with. you'll wow them...let me know if you need 'em.
