I was wondering if anyone has this filmed 1989 Broadway production of OUR TOWN, filmed for Great Performances at the Lyceum. It seems it's on sale on Amazon, but i'm not sure if it's any good.

Our Town is my favorite play. I thought the 1989 production was wonderful. I saw it three times including its final performance. Penelope Ann Miller and Helen Hunt (replacement) played the role of Emily. I actually liked the LCT production so much more than the revival that starred Paul Newman. That particular production (especially James Naughton's direction) left me cold.
This DVD set also included the '70s made-for-TV "Our Town" with Hal Holbrook as the Stage Manager. I like it a lot better than the 1989 production, which I did not see live. As filmed/taped television specials, however, the Holbrook version is superior all around. The cast also includes Robbie Benson, Glynnis O'Connor, Barbara Bel Geddes, Sada Thompson, Ned Beatty, Ronny Cox, and Charlotte Rae.
I think this is a steep price, even with both productions. I've never seen it discounted, though, and it's been out a while. Hopefully, it comes with the actual town for that much money.
The Hal Holbrook production is one of the finest productions of any play ever done and is worth 10x more than what they're asking.
I've never seen that DVD on sale either, but i think i'll be getting it this time. Thanks!
