1994 Carousel Revival Casting Question......

I just got this recording a couple of weeks ago and love it. I also have Broadway's Lost Treasure volume 2 and it's on it to. I have a question....did they cast a lot of black actors in non-traditionally black roles? I didn't know any other way to put that. But I know that Audra McDonald and Shirley Verrett were in it, and from what I could see from the DVD a fair amount of black actors were in it. I've never seen the movie and really don't know too much about this musical, but I'm guessing that normally those are parts played by white actors. I didn't how exactly to put that. I'm by no means racist....just curious....

It was such a wonderful production of one of my favorite musicals.
