I'm going to New York City (first time...well, no, but as far as Bway, yes) at the end of Sept. I plan on seeing Wicked, Ave. Q, and REnt (getting tickets ahead of time for all three) for certain and possibly a fourth show at the last minute. Can I get good tickets one month in advance? Is there anything else I should do while I'm there, besides all the tourist stuff I did when I was young.
And finally, I'm shooting for the Producers for a 4th show, but if that doesn't work, I think I want either Fiddler (big fan!) or Dracula. Is Dracula SO bad that I should go for Fiddler first and then somethin else like Hairspray or Wonderful Town and not even consider Dracula?
All advice accepted with much thanks!~!::)

Oh boy. This is a tough one.
I will confess that I've never been able to get into Wildhorn's music- I would choose Fiddler just based on that.
But I'm sure that someone else who has seen both could definitely answer that. Have fun in NY!
You shouldn't have too much trouble with the Producers, get your tickets a little early.
If it were between Fiddler and Dracula, I'd say Fiddler.
Try Hairspray.
Wicked
Ave. Q
Rent
Producers OR Hairspray (2) OR Fiddler (3) - depends on how it works out. It depends on how much you can see and how much you can afford. I would see what you already planned on seeing, plus Producers, Hairspray and Fiddler.

Don't even think about going to Dracula.
Go see Hairspray or Wonderful Town.
Go see HAIRSPRAY! It's pure joy, a real gem of a musical.
I'd choose anything over Dracula; even a free night with no theatre. Do you really want to pay for sludge?

Hairspray!!! I havent seen dracula, but I've heard only negative things.
Um, anything but Dracula. That's my advice.
The END of September? Some of these won't even be there then. Watch the closing notices, then go see something off-Broadway.
Buy tickets to shows such as Avenue Q, Wicked, Hairspray and The Producers at an earlier date, as the tickets can go fast - Wicked is sold out for most of September, but keep looking, you never know. For the other shows (Rent, Fiddler, Wonderful Town, Dracula), you might be safe buying them closer to the show date, as they are not "the" hot ticket right now.
Fiddler

hairspray- dracula is sh*t-tastic.... one step above (or below depending how you look at it) craptastic

Tanz der Vampire in Hamburg. GO THERE
They have everything
1) It's Dracula in feel and gothdom
2) The Innkeeper character CHAGAL is a tribute to Fiddler
3) It's better than any show on Broadway in thirty years
Don't blow your money anywhere else but Hamburg
I hated this revival of Fiddler.
I thought Dracula was...interesting. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and I have a feeling it grows on you but I didn't like it half as much as other Wildhorn shows.
I'd see Dracula, it's entertaining if nothing else and they do a great job setting the mood.
Go see DRACULA. It's not as bad as everyone says it is. The melodies will linger on beyond the theatre exit and the sets and special effects are above and beyond anything else you will find on Broadway at the moment. A lot of people are claiming that the show is boring and I'm not going to disagree with an opinion as long as I get to express mine as well... I found it incredibly intriguing and if you actually pay attention, I don't think you will find it boring. Especially if you are a fan of DRACULA in any of its incarnations or a fan of the novel. The musical follows the novel very closely. The only other musical I have ever found to be as faithful to it's literary counterpart is the revised Cathy Rigby PETER PAN. Both follow their book plots almost word for word. Which is wonderful for fans, but I guess distressing to critics and the "dracula haters".
If you are not a fan of Frank Wildhorn I think you will be pleasantly surprised in this case, because he has really out done himself. He has written a score brilliantly enough to satisfy his fans and haunting enough to suit the first timers. The book could be better. The lyrics could be better. But I could sit here and list maybe hundreds of shows that could stand a better book or lyric set. Including the almighty WICKED. Take a chance. Surprise even yourself.... the worst that can happen is you walk out of the theatre with a new found respect for the craft of musical theatre. Not everything is SWEENEY TODD. But not everything is DRACULA either ... and you'll kick yourself if you don't make an intelligent and enlightened decision and make the choice for yourself. Like it or not, I don't think you'll regret seeing it.

He's completely right.
Actually, the show's biggest flaw is Errico. But now I must sleep, I'll elaborate tomorrow if you want.

The next Peter Pan musical for Broadway should be Jim Steinman's Neverland

They are both boring- try for something else. How about On the Town and hope that Linda Muggleson is in.

I'd see Fiddler, but then again I'm a Fiddler freak... Try Producers, backup plan being Hairspray then Fiddler. Have fun, and make sure you give us reviews!

I have a feeling Fiddler wont be around at the end of September or will be clossing and many people will probably be going to catch it. Id say Dracula. Sometime shows arent as bad as people say they are, and for someone who doesnt see so many broadway shows (im taking it that u dont since u dont live here lol) u will probably like it. You can see the movie of Fiddler anytime as well and you can always buy the soundtrack. Just my opinion

I saw both Fiddler and Dracula, Fiddler is, in my opinion very boring, but if you like classics then this is good, but it doesn't have the entertainment value of Dracula. Dracula along with a good score and great cast keeps you entertained through the whole show with the special effects, costumes, and lighting, all of my friends including me walked away from that show entertained and happy, that is all I ask of a musical.
