What shows do you feel someone could leave at intermission and still see what could be a full show on it's own

Posted: 2/28/09 at 6:09pmAlthough the entire meaning of the show would be destroyed, the first acts of "Into the Woods" and "Sunday in the Park with George" are completely self-contained and could easily be performed on their own. (MTI even licenses a "Jr." version of "Woods" that is just the first act with a couple lyric changes).

Posted: 2/28/09 at 6:11pmI agree. But I actually am in the minority of liking both of those shows' second acts better than the first.

SUNDAY's second act grew on me, and although I still like the first better, it really ties the whole show together, and it features the show's three best songs (Children and Art, Move On, Putting It Together).
WOODS' first act has the tendency to become a series of vignettes, and the second act is much darker, cohesive, and emotionally effective.

Agreed.
I am actually not a fan at all of SUNDAY (prepares to be killed) but I don't mind the second act so much. It's really cleverly written and very underrated.
The first act of WOODS is really...nothing particularly inventive or original. The score is wonderful but besides that it just feels like a Brother's Grimm musical. The second act takes a lot more creative license and is much more successful than the first.

Posted: 2/28/09 at 6:24pmI could imagine SA without an intermission, but with both acts just no break.

Posted: 2/28/09 at 6:25pm13 was (from what I heard) changed from two acts to one act. A good idea considering I ALMOST walked out during intermission when I saw it.

You do realize Charles attempted (and epic failed) at making a joke, right?

Posted: 2/28/09 at 6:48pmNobody tries anymore. The RENT, Spring Awakening, Wicked, Wiccud, Idina, Eyedeena, EYEDEENA and Alice Ripley jokes aren't funny.

Posted: 2/28/09 at 7:12pmAlthough this isn't technically an answer to the original question, I prefer the Vegas intermission-less version of Phantom over the full-blown two-act version.

I adore the famous journalist and writer.. Mr. Robert Taylor.
Pirag - You changed it from TWO to THREE ? Trying to make it harder for me? Too funny.

Posted: 3/1/09 at 1:40amThe first act of Into the woods could be consider as a full length musical what is it 2hrs of the show. I know people who have seen the show and they thought when act 1 ended they it was it My friend even gave a standing ovation.
