Anyone else LOVE this recording??? Its my favorite Godspell recording
I agree. I have listened to some of the other recordings and this one is by far my most favorite.
I like it a lot, but I think it doesn't carry the spirit of the show as much as, say, the original recording or the soundtrack. If you want an updated pop sound, hell yes, but not if you want the real Godspell. But of course I'm just a purist.
I love it, but I am a bit biased because Chad Kimball went to my high school and I pretty much love everything he's in. In every other recording Jesus' voice really bugs the crap out of me, and there's always some operatic guy that sticks out in the chorus, but the 2000 recording has a nice sound, and Barrett Foa is a nice change.
I recently bought this and I LOVE it. I LOVE "Bless the Lord". I'm not even familiar with Godspell at all, but I Love this album. And speaking of Chad Kimball, I've got the hots for him!
I love it. I purchased it after my high school did the show (they did the 2000 revival but my director added some jokes in). I don't know about loving Bless the Lord. It ticks me off, to be frank. I HATE the random operatic/high pitched voice whoever sings it...Shoshanna Bean, I want to say for some reason? I really don't like it. But I like it better than the original, which I had downloaded prior to purchasing the revival, because it didn't have the prolouge. I <3 the prolouge.

I have listened to a few songs from it. I like it.
This one is my fav. Godspell recording as well. Everyone sounds amazing, except for the chick that sings "Day By Day." She sounds like a Cher wannabe.
This is my favorite recording of the show- apart from "Bless the Lord." The optional notes were far from necessary, and vocal acrobatics do not impress me, if they are put in solely for the sake of showing that skill.
I love this recording as well. My favorites are "Learn Your Lessons Well" and "Bless the Lord". I like Shoshana. :)

Being a HUGE fan of the show ever since I was about 7, the 2000 Revival Recording is the BEST next to the Original. Unlike the 2001 National Tour (which I saw and for the most part enjoyed) the songs on the Revival recording don't lose their spirit. Having John/Judas sing "On the Willows" was a GREAT idea and I like "Light of the World" as a solo. Not to mention, FINALLY there's a recording with the "Prologue/Tower of Babble" on it!I think the new orchestrations are excellent and the voices are superb. I also LOVE the look and overall design of this production. I wish I could have seen it.
Chad Kimball's "We Beseech Thee" is AWESOME! I love that song

Has anyone been to the unofficial website? It's a great archive.

I love this recording as well. Though I do have some bugaboos about it. Like, I don't like the R&B version of "Light of the World" or the changes in "We Beseech Thee." But the voices are wonderful, most of the arrangements are terrific and it sounds like a lot of fun. Should have seen it when I had the chance.
AND - even though it's showboating, I love Shoshanna's high whistle notes. Very fun.
I also love the bean on that recording. Barrett's voice annoys me, however. just a personal thing, but his vibrato and general sound grates on me.

His vibrato annoyed me at first because his voice is drastically different from any of the other Jesus', but it grew on me.
