re: Hairspray Movie on ET
Nice touch recognizing the connection between Divine's dress in Pink Flamingos and Edna's, Mateo.
re: Hairspray Movie Dolls
Yeah, I'd like to see a Motormouth doll not because I'd buy it but because everyone loves a strong black woman.
re: A revival production that topped the original?
This is nowhere close to the caliber of SWEENEY, CHICAGO, or CABARET but the revival of ROCKY HORROR compared to the original production (granted I couldn't have seen the original) I would say topped it.
re: What did people think about Godspell the movie?
I think Godspell is too "out there" to work for film. I own the movie and enjoy some of the performances but I'd compare it best to Hair: you have to experience it live, it's a theatrical event. In the original production, the cast hung out with the audience during intermission. You need an intermission between the acts in order to transition to the Passion and Resurrection. It's one of my favorite shows (first musical I ever saw at six years old when my church did it) but it's too avant-gard...
last show you saw in 2006
The Boys From Syracuse at CenterStage (Baltimore).
re: TDF Launches Brand New Site!
Thank you for mentioning this website! I'm a student and my family are clergy/members of armed forces. We might get up to New York more often now.
re: Where are all the good gay plays?
Once again....did the lesbian play birth and die with THE CHILDREN'S HOUR? What about The Five Lesbian Brothers theatre group and Lisa Kron?
re: Hairspray Movie Official Website Unveils New Logo
It looks like the circus is coming to town.
re: Happy Opening Spring Awakening!
Interesting for this particular show to have a happy opening. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Break a leg!
re: Barefoot in the Park Revival?
I pretty much agree with what's been said. Roberts and Clayburgh were quite good and Wilson was pretty good (you got to see him in his tighty-whiteys) but the set was the most interesting. The costumes were kind of dull.
Recent Advocate features cover story on Jennifer Hudson and features an article with Dominic Cooper
Blurb of Cover Story http://www.advocate.com/currentstory1_w_ektid39920.asp Dominic Cooper Article http://www.advocate.com/currentstory1_w.asp?id=39919 Some of it is probably old news but I thought it was worth sharing.
What about Stephen Spinella in SPRING AWAKENING?
From the reviews I read posted on the boards, nobody has mentioned Spinella's performance. Reading the lengthy interview that's up on the site made me question this. For those who have seen it, what can be said about Spinella in SPRING AWAKENING?
re: Theatre as Art or Entertainment?
From wikipedia.com: Art is an application of human creativity that has some form of appreciative value, usually on the basis of aesthetic value or emotional impact. Much about art is controversial, including what specific cases can be considered such. You could always argue that art by its nature is entertaining. It is supposed to captivate its viewer(s).
re: who is your favortive broadway actor who u will never get enugh??

re: Broadway stars in commericals
I'm 95% sure Robin de Jesus was in a Radio Shack commercial.
re: The Best Casting Choices
Michael Arden as Peter - BARE There's something about him that allows him to play a vulnerable and troubled boy really well. Also vocally, he rocks!
re: Cast Recordings with Parental Advisory Warnings
SPRING AWAKENING has one. Surprise, surprise!
re: Spring Awakening Story in the New York Post
"Then my grandparents were, 'Why'd you have to pick this show?" That cracks me up. I feel like I know those people.
re: I miss
