I'll disagree with Tony Kushner, but agree with the others. The Tony honors are meant to cover things that aren't in the regular Tony categories. They're not consolation prizes for Tony losers. So giving awards for puppetry, special areas of tech like flying, and rotating casts makes sense. Giving an award to Raul Esparza because he doesn't already have one doesn't. :) Updated On: 8/26/04 at 01:30 PM

Exactly Plum. If someone was elegable for a Tony in June, then they wont win an Honorary Tony. Its possible the Henry IV adaption team could win. They won a special Drama Desk.
