Posted: 8/25/04 at 1:06pmMay I ask what the Tony Honors are? Is it something like a Lifetime Achievement Award?
#3re: 2004 Tony Honors
Posted: 8/25/04 at 1:08pmnot really, it's more of a special consideration type of thing--it just started last year and among the honorees was the rotating cast of La Boheme....

Posted: 8/25/04 at 2:34pmIdk, this is just a wild guess but maybe Deborah Cox for being the final Aida. She also will have been playing Aida for awhile. From January to September. Thats a long time for a replacement. Also yeah, as much as I love Wicked, Avenue Q has a great cast.

OMG Eden Espinoza should win a Tony for being such an awsome stand-by!!!(Dont get upset that was a joke)
Rick Lyon really deserves a Tony for his puppets.

Posted: 8/25/04 at 3:03pmShe was a great standby, she should have been nominated because Idina was never there, both times my friend went to see it (first with her family, second w/ me) she saw Eden lol. If I were female I would love to be her standby!

Posted: 8/25/04 at 3:13pmYeah, I thought she was on ALOT. Everytime I went she was there. I also think the Jim Henson Company should be recognized for their work on LSOH

Posted: 8/26/04 at 12:07amThe Tony Honors doesnt go to an average performer. The cast of La Boheme won because they were something special because of their rotating cast. People like Douglas Sills or Eden Espinoza are not going to win the Tony Honors.

Posted: 8/26/04 at 12:25amIf anyone should get an award for not missing shows it should be Harvey Fierstein. In over two years that he was in Hairspray, I think he only missed Act Two once. That is amazing.

You took the words right out o my mouth, BWayBoy. Though I actually think he and Jackman could be considered about even- Jackman's role has to be at least twice as difficult and rigorous as Fierstein's was.
But perfect or near-perfect attendance on Broadway should be expected. It seems kind of funny to give it a special reward like that. If anything, I'd give BFO an award for its record-breaking BC/EFA fund-raising efforts.

#20re: 2004 Tony Honors
Posted: 8/26/04 at 10:46amyou really shouldn't reward perfect attendance--amazing though it may be, it should be the rule, not the exception. especially with a big star people expect to see. but BFO for their fund-raising, that's a good idea....plus that would ensure Hugh is involved, which is never a bad thing...:)

Posted: 8/26/04 at 11:23amleomaxfrank- Esparza has done a lot of acclaimed work since he's come to New York, but his roles have all been traditional, and he got nominated for the traditional Tonys. He's not the first guy yo do good work and not get a Tony. He doesn't need a special award.

My ideas:
-Audrey 2 creative team
-Tony Kuschner for lyrics (when have we had such progressive lyrics in a show?)
-Those flying folks for all their work in so many shows last season (Wicked, Dance of the Vamps, etc)
-Henry IV adaptation team
Those are my somewhat uninformed ideas.
